Egoborn

A type of Craftborn associated with Egomancy.

The Egoborn's most prominent trait is their face, which has only general indications of features and no visible eyes, nostrils, or mouth. They are able to "see" through the ridged antennae protruding from their forehead, which act as highly sensitive electroreceptors. Modern technology blankets nearly everything in a faint electrical field, which Egoborn are able to sense minute changes in and form a picture of their surroundings. If needed, they are also able to generate a weak electrical field of their own, though it isn't strong enough to interfere with most electronics.

Though the Egoborn's sense of smell is weakened, they are able to absorb relevant particles through the skin around their nose. They do actually have a mouth, but it manifests as a jagged fissure only visible when opened, and is mostly only used for eating. Their mouthparts aren't well-suited to ordinary speech, and instead Egoborn largely communicate through sign language and other non-verbal forms.

The skin comes in vibrant shades of purple. Though they have normal human-like hair, they lack eyebrows. On their back, all Egoborn possess a small pair of wings covered in darker violet feathers. These wings are not suitable for flying, though they do somewhat allow for gliding.

A fully mutated Egoborn gains massive wings that enable true flight, while the body shrinks down and takes on an emaciated appearance. The arms and legs both become thin and pointed, similar to the limbs of an insect. The face smooths out completely, leaving only the jagged mouth.

Fully mutated Egoborn seem to retain some of their sentience, far more so than can be argued for any other type of Craftborn. However, several recorded cases showed delusions of being human -- even those who were Egoborn from birth -- so it's still up for debate how much of this displayed sentience is real, and how much is simple mimicry.
