Forestalled Fury
Tsunami
The Forestalled Fury is a massive wall of water, located beyond the jagged cliffs bordering the Sapphire Sea. This water monument of immense size stands still, as if frozen in time, creating an awe-inspiring sight along the Great Plains coast. The first sight of this phenomenon from a high vantage point reveals a play of sunlight on its surface, casting a spectrum of colors across its curved face. The top of the wave, clear and topaz, gradually deepens into shades of blue towards the base. This gigantic wave, standing over a kilometer tall in some places, appears to be frozen in its path.
Legend has it that the Fury originated from the sorrow of Maud, an ancient sea creature living in the depths below the Azure Zone cliffs. Maud’s grief over the loss of her companion, Orion, a wise old turtle, caused such upheaval that it shook the seabed.Over time, her sorrow manifested as a massive tsunami on the horizon. However, just as this wave was about to crash onto the Azure shore, an unknown force halted its progress. The wave now stands frozen at its peak, a testament to the unseen forces at play.Walking amidst the still spray of the wave is an experience that leaves one feeling small and humble in front of nature’s raw power.
Part 1
Once upon a time, in the depths of the sapphire sea, there lived an ancient leviathan named Maud. Maud was known for her wisdom and kindness, and she had a best friend named Orion, a sage turtle who was as old as the sea itself.
Maud and Orion were inseparable. They explored the vast ocean together, shared stories of their adventures, and helped each other in times of need. Their friendship was a beacon of light in the deep sea, admired by all marine creatures.
One day, Orion passed away. His departure left Maud in deep sorrow. Her cries of grief were so powerful that they shook the seabed, causing a tremendous tsunami to form on the horizon.
As the wave grew larger and larger, threatening to crash onto the Azure shore, the sea animals realized they had to do something. They remembered Orion’s wisdom and Maud’s kindness and decided to unite to save their home.
The dolphins used their speed to create strong currents around the wave, while the whales used their massive bodies to hold back the water. The smaller fish worked together in schools to divert the flow of water, and the octopuses used their ink to create a dark cloud, blocking sunlight and reducing the wave’s energy.
Meanwhile, a wise old octopus named Inkwell swam down to Maud. He reminded her of Orion’s teachings about balance and harmony in nature. He told her that even though Orion was gone, his wisdom lived on in all of them.
Maud realized that her grief had caused imbalance in the sea. She decided to use her strength to help restore balance. With a mighty roar, she swam upwards, pushing against the wave with all her might.
At that moment, an unknown force seemed to join them. The wave stopped in its tracks, frozen at its peak. The sea animals cheered as they saw their home saved from destruction.
From that day forward, the frozen wave stood as a monument on the Azure coast, a reminder of Maud’s grief but also of the unity and strength of all sea creatures. They named it the Forestalled Fury.
And so, even though Maud still missed Orion every day, she found comfort in knowing that his wisdom had helped save their home. She understood that while grief is a part of life, so is moving forward - and with the help of friends, one can overcome even the biggest waves.
