Mere of Dead Men
Swamp
A cold and desolate swamp populated by monsters. There are rumours of ruined castles in the mire. The High Road runs to the East of the Mire; travellers are often lured from it. The Mire is also known as
Merdelain.
The Mire is home to a number of monsters including Will-o'-Wisps, which lure adventurers from the The High Road to their deaths.
The Mere is a saltwater swamp, a desolate place full of monsters. The Mere has grown over time, engulfing land, homes, and settlements in its way. The flooded ruins of these settlements, castles, and towers still remain within the Mire.
The Mere is full of quicksand and hidden islands. The corpses and bones of the dead lie semi-preserved throughout the boggy wastes. Though the water is deep enough to navigate on boats, the dark waters and hidden debris make this a dangerous choice.
The mire is cold and dank. It is often foggy, making visibility poor.
The Mere is along The Sword Coast and lies within The Neverwinter Empire between Neverwinter and Waterdeep.
The Mere is to the west of The High Road and the north of the The Sword Mountains. The nearest town is Leilon to the north.
Little grows in the Mere; trees, vines, and grasses struggle to survive.
