The jewel at the heart of the Amulet of Radiant Vitality, known as the Heartstone of Zariel, is said to have been taken from the broken blade of Zariel, once a celestial warrior dedicated to vanquishing evil. Before her fall into the Nine Hells, Zariel’s weapon held a divine shard of her radiant essence, embodying her fierce commitment to justice. When she became the Archduchess of Avernus, this fragment of her lost grace was lost—until it was discovered centuries later and forged by Silver Artisan Zahira Moonforge into the amulet, imbuing it with Zariel’s lingering celestial power for healing and protection.
- Divine Healing Boost: Adds 2d4 hit points to all healing spells cast by the wearer.
- Renewal Pulse: Once per day, the wearer can heal 40 hit points to up to 6 allies within 30 feet. Additional pulses restore the same amount but add 1 level of exhaustion per pulse. Recharges at dawn, and exhaustion can’t be magically removed until the next day.
- Guardian’s Resilience: Grants a +2 bonus to Constitution while attuned, enhancing durability and spell concentration.
- Celestial Ward: If the wearer drops to 0 hit points, they are instantly restored to 10 hit points and gain the effects of the Sanctuary spell for 1 minute. This effect can be triggered once per day.
- Celestial Burden: The amulet’s divine energy is taxing on mortal wearers. Each week of continuous attunement, the wearer must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or gain 1 level of exhaustion. Each time the wearer gains exhaustion while attuned, they must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw. On a failure, they permanently lose 1d4 Constitution.
- Gradual Regeneration: Constitution points lost from Celestial Burden can be regained at a rate of 1 point per week after unattuning from the amulet, slowly restoring the wearer’s vitality.
• Renewal Pulse: Recharges at dawn. Additional pulses within the same day cause exhaustion, and this exhaustion cannot be removed by magical means until the next day.
• Celestial Ward: Recharges at dawn, allowing the wearer to be restored to 10 hit points once per day if reduced to 0 hit points.
• Crafted Origins: The amulet was forged by the Silver Artisan Zahira Moonforge, who embedded the Heartstone of Zariel—a powerful celestial relic—into the design, imbuing it with potent healing and protective magic.
• Celestial Connection: The amulet’s divine energy occasionally allows the wearer to feel echoes of Zariel’s former celestial grace, with some wearers reporting faint visions of angelic battles and whispers of guidance. These effects are subtle but remind the wearer of the amulet’s celestial origin.
• Exhaustion Risk: Though immensely powerful, the amulet’s effects come at a cost. Mortal wearers often find its energy taxing over time, requiring caution to avoid severe exhaustion or permanent Constitution loss.
• Gradual Regeneration: If unattuned, the wearer can gradually recover any Constitution lost due to the amulet, at a rate of 1 point per week. This slow recovery emphasizes the weight of wielding such divine power.
• DM Suggestions: For story integration, the amulet could attract celestial or fiendish interest, drawing the attention of beings who recognize the Heartstone’s origin or see the amulet as a lost relic of Zariel’s angelic past.
