You'll Need The Following

  • 1 pound of pasta

  • 24oz of pasta sauce

  • 3 cups of water

  • 1/2 pound of chicken

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • 2 teaspoons salt

  • 4 cups of shredded mozzarella

  • 2 cups of bread crumbs

  • 1 cup of shredded parmesan cheese

Cooking Instructions

  1. Start by cooking your chicken; we like to dice ours up and cook it in a pan with some salt and pepper until it's cooked through, but you could bake it or even use pre-cooked chicken such as from a can, rotisserie chicken, or anything else.

  2. Once your chicken is cooked (or if you're using pre-cooked chicken), preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

  3. Get a 13x9 baking dish and either line it or spray it or otherwise make sure food isn't gonna stick to it.

  4. Add the pasta (raw, do not cook it), pasta sauce, water, cooked chicken, garlic powder, and salt and mix it all together.

  5. Cover the dish with tin foil and bake for 45 minutes.

  6. Remove from the oven, remove the tin foil, and top with the mozzarella, bread crumbs, and parmesan in that order.

  7. Stick it back in the oven uncovered for 15 minutes to melt the cheese and bake the bread crumbs just a bit.

Let sit for about 10 minutes out of the oven to cool, then eat! This reheats really well, though I don't recommend freezing it because the pasta gets weird if you do.

Also, every time we make this we use a different sauce; from classic red meat sauce to a fancy spinach and cheese red sauce to alfredo sauce, it's all good. Same for the meat, the original calls for chicken but we've done ground beef too and it's great. And the pasta type doesn't matter, we've done shells and bowties and just whatever we have on hand so it's fine. Mix it up!
