Skullbird
Bird
Globally recognized ill omen
Pitch black, with a white skull-shaped marking in the middle of their forehead.
Incredibly sharp beak, with neck muscles that enable it to split the skull of small animals with a single strike.
About the size of a large fist.
At night, the Skullbird hunts by skulking with its head along the ground, with only its skull marking visible in the darkness. When a small predator takes the bait (thinking the white is a small animal), the Skullbird drives its sharp beak into the skull of its attacker to split it in half.
