Eliot Andrew Mercer
Mercer
While I wouldn't normally put a trans character's deadname in here, due to his royal background and status as a runaway it's mentioned in-universe. His birth name was Alyenna Moir, he started going by Eliot soon after being taken in by the Mercer family, and changed his surname to theirs, both as a sign of love to them and to avoid recognition.

Stabbed in the stomach by Pietyr Hanne towards the end of the first part of the story, which is something he's recovering from throughout.
Not an "identifying" mark since they're concealed by his shirt, but two scars on his chest from top surgery. He gains another across his stomach after being stabbed.
If he pushes his power too much, his nose begins to bleed.
Eliot is very reserved, and often quite quiet. He's paranoid due to the near-constant fear of being recognized and sent back to his family. He's very intelligent, although he doesn't often speak up in class. His loyalty is difficult to earn and he doesn't trust easily, but when he trusts you, he's with you until the end. He prefers blending in to being the center of attention. His gift is persuasion, but he hates using it, since the idea of compromising someone's free will disgusts him. He just wants a simple life, and he wants to control his power and then return to Chiri to be a farmer or bookseller or something like that. Once he's forced to flee from the Academy, he becomes slowly more willing to take up the mantle of a revolutionary. Although he knows that he could return to Chora and take the throne, he knows that the odds of him being accepted as a man by the general population is low. Moreso than that, he knows that his Gift being persuasion means that he could possibly become a horrific dictator, or unwhittingly control all of his potential subjects, and he refuses to take that chance.
Very persuasive, racquetball, piano, can throw a solid punch.
To keep firmly out of his family's grasp.
Racquetball, piano, reading.
Paranoid, hesitant to use his gift, even when it's necessary. He tries to keep his emotions under wraps, and can come off as aloof and disinterested. He feels like he'll only bring pain to his friends and family since he fears being caught by his parents.
Against most authority figures, since he's afraid that they'll recognize him.
Persuasion
The son of the king and queen of Chora, Eliot ran away at age ten when it became obvious to him that his parents would never accept him and would force him to live as their daughter. He stowed away in a shipping crate and traveled off-planet, where he socially transitioned and began working odd jobs, and was adopted by a loving family. He was selected for the Academy after he accidentally convinced his father to break a window in a rare burst of anger, and turned himself in due to the distress his gift had caused him.
Very high until he ran away, then steady (although not too comprehensive) until he went to the Academy.
