Dallas Dame
is Death himself, or something (major character)
He hates his full name and always goes by Dally. Anthony Croce calls him Dame; Jacques Device calls him Dallas just to piss him off.
His surname is French and is pronounced more like the English word “dam”, not "dame" with a long 'a' sound.
Male (he/him, cisgender)
25
"Straight"
Looks more or less like he just walked off the set of a low-budget and not terribly historically accurate movie set in the fifties, so much so that he could probably whip out a switchblade comb without anyone saying anything about it. Talk to him for five seconds and you'll realize he's pretty friendly, but he has a slightly intimidating, unapproachable vibe to him.
Slightly under the average for his age and height
6' 3", but looks a few inches taller because of the heels he always wears.
Dark brown
It's shaved on the sides and very long on the top and down the middle. He usually has it in one long braid but sometimes wears it loose.
Dark brown and fractionally mismatched (his left eye is glass and isn't perfectly identical to the real one). His eyes are slightly droopy in a way that makes him look perpetually a bit sleepy.
Human
Light brown
Cree (a First Nations people) and Canadian
Lean and angular
Dresses somewhere between a fifties greaser and a nineties visual kei rockstar, you know what I mean? Yeah you know what I mean. Wears a lot of leather, plain white shirts, fingerless gloves, heeled black boots and neckerchiefs in fun colors.
His nose is very long and a bit crooked, a souvenir from a fight he got into with his twin sister in middle school.
His face looks as though it shattered around his blind eye and was repaired with gold like kintsugi pottery. Same deal with his chest; his torso is full of spiderweb cracks originating from what appears to be a bullet wound directly over his heart. Who knows what that's all about!
Doesn't like sitting for long periods of time. Tends to lean against any available wall or surface instead.
If he does have to sit for whatever reason, his posture is abyssmal. He sort of just collapses and sprawls onto whatever chair or cushion he's offered.
Runs his hands through his hair a lot.
Tends to cover his mouth with his hand when surprised. Does the same thing when chewing, even if he's not talking while eating.
Runs his tongue over his teeth whenever he's thinking or nervous.
Because he's blind in his left eye, he always prefers being on the left when walking next to someone and in general tends to position himself with his right side closer to others if he can help it. It makes him uncomfortable when he can't see the person he's talking to in his peripheral vision.
Despite always seeming calm and relaxed, he's somewhat jumpy. Very sensitive to loud noises.
A curiously flat, blank expression settles on his face whenever he's alone or thinks no one is looking.

Being known. All he wants is to be loved but he can't let himself be vulnerable enough to have it.
Feels emotionless and shallow. He hates himself for his constant shallow social interactions and he hates himself for never being able to be vulnerable and express deeper issues or emotions with anyone, even friends he knows wouldn't mind, and he hates himself for having said issues and emotions to begin with.
He is exhausted with having so few meaningful connections with people despite being friends with everyone. He's always been this way as a person who's been relatively popular his whole life; he's dealt with it by being, above all else, as polite, non-intense and unobtrusive about every emotion he has so as not to scare anyone off. He never talks about his own problems so as not to be a burden and because he's so scared of being truly known. And yet this prevents him from ever being loved or understood in the way he craves, and sometimes makes him come across as shallow to other people.
It's an issue that's exacerbated by the isolation that comes with being a reaper. He doesn't feel truly connected to anyone and knows he can never really be a part of anyones' lives even if he wanted to be, but feels like the least he can do is put on a friendly face.
Tries too hard to act "cool" as it's the easiest face for him to put on.
He's very reserved emotionally, but in terms of actual physical actions he tends to rush into things without thinking.
Overly agreeable. Doesn't hold a lot of strong convictions of his own.
Very fast runner and all around fairly athletic.
He's been in at least half a dozen terrible punk bands and so has picked up a lot of different instruments, but is most skilled at singing and playing the guitar.
Some might say his poetry is almost decent!
He has a few hobbies like singing, playing the guitar and journaling, but he usually has so little energy at the end of the day he just collapses and does nothing in his free time. After getting home for the day he often just stares at his ceiling for hours. Other hobbies include writing poetry about his feelings no one else will ever see at 3 AM and flirting with Anthony every chance he gets and then insisting to himself that he's straight.
He was a big theatre kid in high school but kind of gave up on acting once he graduated. He’s still into theatre, though, and a pretty decent actor.
Has a very relaxed, composed demeanor, but something about it seems forced, like he's ready to spring at any second. Tends to keep anything of substance--or really, anything about himself at all--out of conversation and has mastered the art of small talk. Can never think of anything meaningful to say whenever someone asks him about himself.
Despite what was mentioned in his flaws, you probably wouldn't guess he struggles with emotions in any way. He's very good at saying and doing the right things at the right times and seems to be a happy person.
He tries his best to act cool and usually succeeds, though of course that depends on your definition of "cool".
His way of dancing around any topic pertaining to his personal life combined with his casual confidence makes him a very mysterious and talked-about figure in Helston when he first arrives. He has to admit he likes the attention that comes with being a reaper in such a seemingly unimportant small town, even if he doesn't like the isolation that comes with that status quite as much.
He's pepetually bored out of his mind both by other people and himself and is somewhat of an adrenaline junkie.
He feels fairly emotionless when it comes to daily motions, but isn't completely cold to his own feelings. He's much less reserved in his emotions when it comes to media; it seems like a safer outlet to him. He's the type of person to sob at the end of every movie regardless of whether it was sad and sings at the top of his lungs to any song he knows on the radio. And though isolated, he maintains strong relationships with the few people in his life.
Bored with the meaningless social interactions in his life but not so with little things unrelated to other people. He takes delight in weird bugs he finds and strange corners of town, occassionally even exploring abandoned parts of Helston for fun and not just for his job.
Partially blind; his left eye has been replaced with a glass one (his right one is fine).
Has ADHD and dyslexia.

High school diploma
Had a fairly unassuming childhood. Comes from a middle class family—consisting of him, his twin sister, and his dad—from Quebec. When he was eight, he suffered a head injury in a car crash that damaged his left eye severely enough to result in it having to be removed completely. He’s introduced pretty early on in the story but remains a mysterious character for a while; it's unclear why he was relocated from Quebec City to middle-of-nowhere Colorado.
His immediate family consists of his dad and twin sister, Daisy, both of whom he is very close with. They stayed in Quebec when Dally moved to the US, but this didn't change their relationship much and they talk very often. Dally feels as though he can tell his family anything, Daisy especially.
He has a pet snake named Monty (yes, Monty the python). He'd like to own a tarantula but doesn't have one yet.

Phillipe Brach. "Divagation parlementaire" is a pretty good speaking voice claim, especially starting around 0:58
He has a Spotify playlist if you want to give it a listen! Here's some of the songs off there that remind me the most of him:
- "Ball of the Dead Rat" by The Teeth
- 「マシンガンポエムドール」/ "MACHINE GUN POEM DOLL" by cosMo@暴走P
- "1984" by Devarrow
- “Heart for Brains” by Roar
- "Darla" by Vundabar
-"Blast Doors", "The Wheel (is Turning Now)", and "Zero Pharoah" by Everything Everything
-"Ergophobia" by Psychedelic Porn Crumpets
-"Stay Safe" by Me Like Bees

He lived all over Canada before moving to the US, but spent most of his childhood in Quebec. The rest of his family has since moved back to Quebec, but he ended up moving to America on his own.
Fun Fact™️: he's named after Dallas from S.E. Hinton's The Outsiders!
Thinks of Quill Cardenas like a funny little cousin or sister. Likes being a cool older brother figure to her.
He also has an actual twin sister, Daisy Dame (neither of them will ever forgive their parents for naming them Dally and Daisy Dame). They're good friends, and she was usually the lead singer in the various shitty punk bands they were in throughout high school. Now she's a mechanic and the lead singer of a not shitty punk band!
Definitely for sure not in love with Anthony Croce. Anthony has a bounty on his soul which gives Dally an excellent excuse to hang around him all the time. Anthony views them more seriously as rivals whereas Dally is mostly just in it for the tension that comes with that dynamic. What starts out as a small crush for both of them becomes pretty strong romantic feelings as the story progresses but both of them refuse to admit to even themselves that that is in fact what's going on. It is frankly extremely embarrassing to watch them
Agnostic. He doesn't follow any particular religion but likes to believe there's something out there.
Cree is his very first language, but he learned French alongside it and then English after his family moved from Quebec, and is fluent in all three languages. His Quebecois accent is noticeable when he speaks English, but it's not terribly thick.
Left-wing. In general, he believes that as long as they’re not hurting themselves or anything else, people should just be allowed to live their lives.
Grim reaper. I'll link an actual article on it here eventually, but basically reapers in this world function a lot like traveling plague doctors during the Black Plague did, only with towns infested with dead zones instead of a physical illness. That is to say, grim reapers are more a formality than anything. There isn't a whole lot they can actually do about dead zones; if one shows up in your town, you're already fucked.
