His mother is a scientist who taught him to love the natural world. She explained to him as a child that his father was not around because he was doing important work that made him unable to see them. For most of his life, Jura has had mixed feelings about his father, even though they never met until he was summoned to the Dreamlands. Was made fun of a lot in school for his weight and stimming and was made somewhat of a social outcast.
