Dallen was born blind, and has had to learn to navigate the world on her own ever since she was old enough to walk as her parents had no time to devote to a disabled child. A few of her older siblings were more willing to help rather than let her die, and it was by their kindness alone that Dallen was able to grow up.

In her pre-teen years Dallen decided she wasn't going to be a burden anymore, so she left home. She could play a hurdy-gurdy with some degree of skill and spent her time from that point forward as a traveling bard playing for tips. Eventually a bard's college decided to formally train her after one of its members heard her performing, but as soon as that education was done Dallen was back to the traveling life. She enjoyed it, actually, and liked experiencing all the different places in the world even if she could not see; the scents, sounds and tastes of places were as distinct as the sights for the people who could see and her interactions with locals were always amusing. After all Dallen was born blind, and after so many years she can navigate as well as a sighted person and when people realize this their reactions are always priceless.
