Daso Argen
Male
Nyir often calls him "kid" or "boy" or "buddy"
The newest and youngest recruit to the First Regiment
16
160
5'11
Dark brown-black
Tall, with broad shoulders, but quite thin and wiry. A small amount of muscle definition, especially on his legs. Skinny ankles and wrists. Well-defined jawline.
Medium skin tone with gold undertones. Fairly oily skin as most teenagers have.
Multiracial; mostly Black and Hispanic. Has some Secret blood in him.
Soft grayish eyes.
None, can't grow any to save his life
Typically wears his hair in wild corkscrew curls, but occasionally gets it braided into short cornrows to get it out of his way. Really, really nice edges tbh
Slightly crooked teeth, especially his bottom teeth. He has a gap between his two front teeth.
Has a small tattoo on his right wrist of an infinity symbol; his sister has the same one on the opposite wrist.
Extremely fast. Has a knack for jokes. Good at harnessing his ability. Highly empathetic/social and is good at connecting with others.
-doesn't quite have PTSD but has some residual trauma from abusive parents. Jumpy at times, flinches at loud noises and sudden movements, hates the smell of fire. The trauma manifests in his clinginess, his overly-trusting attitude, and his naivety.
-has ADHD. Very short attention span, hyper focuses easily, spaces out often, forgets to listen to people when they're relaying important information. Horrible with names.
He was unofficially diagnosed with ADHD by his sister, but he wasn't sure about the PTSD. He suspects it up until a doctor at headquarters confirmed both the ADHD and the mild remnants of PTSD.
Leans on everything, crosses his arms a lot, kind of clumsy when embarrassed, has a loud laugh, sings/hums to himself all the time, smiles when he's sad or upset, very expressive eyebrows, can't stand still when nervous, stands on his tiptoes when he walks half the time
He wants to do good. He's often confused by the Board's standard of morality and hates hypocritical people. He just wants to find the truth and act on it. He is obsessed with superheroes and their ability to always do the right thing by people. He loves heroism and nobility.
-Feigned overconfidence. Daso wants people to believe he's confident and sure of himself, even though he is cripplingly insecure in his abilities. Partially due to his parents, and partially due to his own disposition and short comings, he doesn't believe he's good at anything. He has quite a case of imposter syndrome and is torn between self-doubt and narcissism.
-Loud. He talks much too much at times, and can ramble on for ages about something he's passionate about. He moves loudly and isn't very good at stealth or serious situations.
-Sensitive. Things hurt him much too deeply and he takes offense at things he shouldn't. Hates to show that vulnerability, so he bottles it up. Secretly a crybaby. Finds himself digging his nails into his palms to stop himself from crying in front of people.
-Squeamish. Hates violence and can't stand to see anyone injured. It's something he has to overcome during training so that he can actually be of use in a battle.
-Naive. Spaces out often and doesn't pay attention to his surroundings. Innocent to a fault.
-Clingy. Anyone who shows him any kindness is now an object of his unabashed admiration. He is a startlingly social being who wants to make friends with everyone.
-Strong prejudice against hypocrites.
-Moderate prejudice against religious people.
Practicing his ability, talking (and never shutting up), reading comic books, watching movies and analyzing them, flirting with anyone pretty, listening to music, singing, dancing, performing, hanging out with friends.
ESFP-T: The Entertainer
Daso is a charismatic, fun-loving kid. He's the youngest of Nyir's regiment, and as such he is often left out of important decisions or babied. He's showy and flirty and purposefully overdramatic to hide his insecurities. He was quite sheltered as a kid, so now he wants to experience life and always feels like he's catching up with everyone. He makes jokes a lot (both good and bad) and loves puns. He's caring, kind, and compassionate to everyone. Although he hates doing it and has a tough time getting to this point, he can be serious when the situation calls for it, and he has a lot of empathy. He is a huge pushover and lets anyone walk all over him. Due to his upbringing, he is desperate to please, terrible at talking about his own emotions, secretive, distant in an unusual way where he seems like he's opening up and talking a lot, but if you really listen, he's not saying much at all.
Still in high school. He gets pretty good grades, but he doesn't believe that he's very smart since his sister is so smart. Loves English.
Much of his own background he isn't really sure of. He was born to two Secrets in a rural town in Alabama. His parents were extremists, teaching them that they were the messengers of God, that they were the next step of human evolution. His parents were strict and abusive, holding him to impossible standards and comparing him to his sister. They mocked his ability, telling him he wasn't good enough, that he'd never be as good as Dara. To punish him when he did something they deemed wrong, they would take his most prized possessions (typically comic books) and burn them in front of his face. They'd strike out fairly often, slapping him or pulling his hair. As he got older, he began to notice that they treated Dara terribly as well. They would mock her ability because they said it wasn't fitting for a woman, that she should know her place. They would take her things, or lock her in the house, or force her to eat dinner with random male Secrets so that she could get married sometime soon. She had a smart mouth and didn't take shit from anyone, so their mother got fed up and slapped her. Dara tried to fight back, but their dad jumped in and punched her. When Daso saw that, his hatred of conflict and his pacifist tendencies disappeared and all he saw was red. He jumped into the fight and broke his father's nose, his aim perfect. His father beat him rather severely, but he felt more sick at his ability to hurt someone like that, especially his dad. In the middle of the night that night, Dara woke him up and told him to grab his things, that they were going to leave and join the humans. She dragged him away.
It was difficult at first, but with Dara's innate intelligence, they soon found their way to someone who would listen. Since there is no definitive marker that someone is a Secret, they were able to join their ranks undetected. Dara introduced the merging of human and Secret DNA, which is what got them transported to the Atlanta headquarters. She spun a lie about Daso being her first test subject and got him into the Regiment, under Nyir's supervision.
October 20, 20??
Anything spicy; he also loves junk food.
Ocean animals, particularly dolphins and otters.
He uses a modified gun suited to his abilities.
A frayed rope bracelet hangs around his wrist. He and his sister wove each other the bracelets long ago. He wears it on his right wrist, right next to his tattoo.
Gold
He is the youngest member of the First Regiment; he's their marksman.
An unapologetic Socialist and pacifist. Your textbook "bleeding heart liberal." Doesn't talk politics much because he hates conflict.
He's Catholic, but he has a difficult relationship with his religion, again due to his upbringing. He believes in God, most definitely, and wants to believe that he's doing the right thing and is following God, but he isn't at all sure of anything. He hates thinking too deeply about it and chooses to largely ignore it instead.
