Sea Elf
July 14th, 1319
Lexie's background is a long and complicated one, starting with her birth in the town of Arlow. A small fishing village with a mostly sea elf population, there wasn't much aside from fishing to do for a living. Even still Lexie was always good with music and instruments, and she could draw others to her by playing but could never catch the attention of the man she loved, a high elf named Mateo.
In her teens Lexie opted to go off and study to be a bard, hoping it would give her the confidence she'd need to admit her feelings for him. She saved up, went to the college, studied hard and came home a success at the top of her class but it was all for naught; her beloved had married another in the years she was away.
Heartbroken, Lexie settled for another high elf named Tasuil, who had been pining for her for some time who also happened to be Mateo's friend. Eventually the four started hanging out as friends when her husband introduced them, and things were good.....until Mateo realized he had never really seen Lexie before, and the two started carrying out an affair after a few years when he realized how much she loved him and that he really did love her too.
One night a few years after they started the affair Mateo's wife was found dead, and he was blamed for the act as it was his knife that had been used in the crime. Worse yet, as he'd been with Lexie the night of the act he could not provide a proper alibi and was quickly convicted of killing her. Before he was sentenced Lexie promised him she'd wait and the day he was released from prison she would be there to meet him and they would run far away and have a life together.
This conviction was furthered after he was sent away, as Tasuil admitted to her that he was the one who committed the crime. He knew about the affair and also knew the only way to get his wife back was to get the other man out of the picture; he'd thought about murdering Mateo outright, but the opportunity came for Tasuil to frame Mateo for a crime instead and with him in jail Tasuil had hoped to rekindle the relationship and get Lexie back. Instead Lexie was disgusted, and as she could not prove what her husband had done she simply left.
For the ten years while Mateo was imprisoned she traveled, writing him letters when she stopped in various port towns and telling him she was always on the move so she could distract herself from missing him. It was during this time that Lexie became familiar with The Order of the First Storm, and though she didn't join them herself she admired what they were doing. She told herself that if she was ever able to own her own ship she'd use it to help them, and worked towards that goal as well.
By the time Mateo was set to be out of prison Lexie was waiting for him, only to be devastated as she was met with the prison guard handing her a box of unopened letters and the worst news of her life; he had been murdered in his second year, and the guards had been unable to contact her to let her know since she moved around so much. All they could do was read the letters he'd received and opened during his time, gather all the letters up, and wait to see if she truly would be there on his release date.
Lexie honestly thought of suicide at that point, and made an attempt at it a few nights later. The only thing that saved her was the spirit of Mateo coming to her as she lay dying, telling her to live out her dreams and become a ship captain, use her ship to help the Order, and see the world. He promised when her time really came he'd be waiting, and she could tell him all about her adventures and they could have the entire afterlife to spend together.
Somehow she survived the attempt, and took the advice to heart. Lexie worked harder than ever to get her own ship, The Warspirit, set up her own business, and help the Order like she promised she would. Despite never formally joining their ranks she is a great help to them, always willing to take people where they need to go by ship free of charge and knowing she's making the world better for it.
