Shared with Ori

Nibel was created 400 years ago when the Spirit Tree was born. It was a small thing at first, and the clearing around it was small, but it was the start of Nibel. White flowers bloomed, a few wisps were born, and Sein happened to make residence in the branch-encircled core of the tree. After a while, the Tree grew to full size, and the clearing of Nibel became the size it was.

That was when hardships started. Nibel was needing to be expanded, but the Tree's light could not reach to the outskirts of Nibel. As such, the first hints of darkness showed up, forest around it casting shadows on the clearing, and creatures entering that did not adhere to the light. The Tree tried to combat those creatures to no avail, so it created more children to fight those creatures. That was all fine and dandy until Kuro showed up.

Kuro was big black bird that started off as a soul loyal to the light. She grew up in Nibel, and even had three chicks. Then, an attack on Nibel happened as she was out hunting, and the Tree used its light to fend off the invaders. Since Kuro wasn't there, and her chicks had sort of claimed loyalty to the darkness outside Nibel, the chicks had no cover and were dissolved away in the Tree's light. Kuro could only watch in horror as she realized what was happening, then shifted. Her eyes turned from a white to a gold, the light in her soul vanishing. She vowed revenge on the Spirit Tree that day, even though its killing of her chicks was unintentional. She coordinated multiple attacks against Nibel with the darkness...failing every single time because of the Tree's light. Though, the Tree had no way to defend Nibel from the attacks, and it would only be it attacking Kuro and the darkness once the attacks were happening. The wisps fighting from earlier weren't powerful enough to fight the darkness once it started attacking Nibel. That was why the Tree created Ori.

Ori was created with a bit more care than the rest of the children, her feathers being all white instead of the normal gray, and as such she was a bit more powerful than the rest. However, in the first battle she was in, which involved Ori going up against Kuro with the Tree's help, the Tree realized Ori was still not powerful enough. However, the way the Tree made Ori, she could become more powerful.

The Tree spent a night creating gifts for Ori. However, the way it made them, it couldn't just give them to Ori to make her more powerful. She had to go out into the world outside Nibel and find them. The Tree wished it wasn't like that, but that was the only way Ori could become powerful enough to fight the growing darkness in Nibel. It sent Ori off on a quest to find the gifts, gifting over Sein as his first gift so Ori would have a guide.
