Ilona is bubbly, excitable, and interested in success in life. They are dead-set on making a career as an actor, but unfortunately stuck as a soldier in Twyllo. They are initially very optimistic and attempt to keep their hopes up at all times, to varying degrees of success. When they do get to Creston, they become an incredibly skilled actor and a general fan favorite of the Crestonites.
The realities of show business hit them like a freight train and the bubbly, cheerful Ilona is soon replaced with a methodical performer who knows all too well how exploitative a capitalist system can be. They're weary and cynical despite the mask they put on onstage, and are growing increasingly angry with how their genderqueer identity is used as a spectacle and a selling point for their shows.
