Godfrey Birch's family is one of the first to become Ghouls. Most people who are Ghouls have been bitten by another Ghoul. The first Ghouls were people punished for eating corpses, similar to the Wendigo. That's just another name for them. Some speculate Godfrey Birch was one of the first born a Ghoul. This makes him one of the most powerful pureblooded Ghouls ever.

Godfrey runs the Cranesville Ghouls club. A feeding place and nightclub for Ghouls. He uses his power to hide bodies all over the town in secret caches. He turned the owner of the local funeral service into a Ghoul and uses his help to steal the bodies.

Godfrey can give off his own glamour to appear human. He can't stand sunlight, silver. Blood or meat from the living makes him sick, like other Ghouls.
