When Varian was twenty his home planet, Odium, was demolished after a comet hit it. Nevaeh, who had been off of the planet and was coming back from a military mission, took Varian under her wing and turned him into captain of her guard. Varian worked as captain until he was twenty, when Nevaeh gave him a new mission. She commanded him to somehow become ruler of Plyn, the most advanced planet in their galaxy. To do so, Varian made Adaline (who was the current ruler of Plyn) fall in love with him. At the age of twenty three, Varian and Adaline got married. Varian took over control of Plyn, but none of it's residents knew what his bigger plan was.
