Rai was born in Japan in 1165. He was given to the Ninja clan when he was 4. since then he was trained in Ninjitsu and Lightning Magic. when he was 30 he lead a team of other ninjas who practiced in magic. Their job was to take all the blaspheming ninja clans and bring them under their flag of peace and honour.

The story is set in Feudal Japan. The story is set in 1195 10 years into feudal Japan. There is one large singular Ninja clan that uses ancient elemental magic to watch over Japan, to protect it from Demons and other threats. However the clans have been split due to feudalism. The largest clan is tasked with reuniting the clans. So they can survive this period of time.

Since the clan has been split into several other clans, demons now also rain terror on Japan corrupting it. Demons are of Dark magic. The Ninja's follow the teachings of the Dragons of the Light and elemental magics.

Rai is tasked with leading this quest with the most skilled people behind him.
He is given a Lightning Katana as a symbol of leadership and must unite the clans against the demon threat.

Rai at first however is gifted with lightning powers through his katana Fumetsu.

His abilities include summoning lightning through his blade, for short periods of time being as fast as lightning strike.
