Cassandra was born into a family of Slayers, but her family was descended from a powerful changeling fae that took the vow of a Slayer without being aware that she was a fae. Her parents died on a job, so she was taken to a children's home run by an older, retired Slayer and her husband. There she met twin brothers (who are not yet named), who became her best friends. She also befriended the house's Bean-Tighe, Bronwyn.
A few years later, a wizard girl appeared on their doorstep, half-conscious and beaten. When she awoke she requested help; her family had been taken by a dark force. Cass and the others promised to help, and Cass was happy to have another girl around, even if she was a wizard. Over the course of a year, she helped her friends uncover the mystery of the wizard family. Cass had fallen in love with one of the twins, but so had the wizard girl. That twin ended up with an Unseelie curse that caused him to wither away, leaving Cass griefstricken.
During the next battle, Cass promised that she wouldn't let anyone else die, so she used her Wish, a trait that came with Soul Magic that could only be used once. She succeeded, but in return she had to pay a price for the Wish. Cass began to throw herself at every creature that stood in her way, the weight of the curse weighing on her, but after a while, she befriended an older wizard and a vampire named Jeremiah, who understood what she was going through.
100 years later, Cass met up with some young Slayers who desperately needed a mentor.
