Espen only goes by Espen, except on a certain island, where he goes by Lynx, because of a incident that happened there (more backstory coming soon on this hopefully)

freckles on his face. He has human feet, but goat ears and horns. His tail has a leaf on the end that changes with the seasons, which is a mark of his family. Most of the races from the forest of Mystics have distinguishing marks unique to their families. Espen's is leaves.

Espen is very talented in fire magic and has strong healing capabilities, but he cannot perform basic magic with any other element. He also is a good cook, even if he seems to only eat canned beans.

He hates the wall that separates the two continents. He thinks it is a waste of resources, that needs to be taken down. But his limited history education failed to teach him how the wall is necessary to protect the land from invasion. He learns later on in the story the fallacy of his opinion and is very embarrassed.

very insecure about being weak in his water magic, and other kinds of magic. Most people from his town can do almost all types of magic with ease, but he can only do fire, yet he does it very well. He tends to try and heal others rather than fight so no one finds out he cannot use much other magic.

Espen's hobbies include carving sticks he finds into cute little animals, cooking when he runs out of canned beans and practicing his magic.

shy towards others, and tends to be nice to everyone, but not really on the inside. He judges people critically on the inside and takes his opinions into his decision making.

A desire to get better at what he does, mostly to be able to protect his friends better.

Tends to not make eye contact with people he deems scary or intimidating. He stays with what he knows about the world and isn't quick to believe anyting anyone says to him without proof. He tries to be polite but his shy akwardness comes off as rude to some, and sometimes he straight up avoids some people, which is rude.

Espen loves goats since he is part goat, but his favorite animal is a mouse. He loathes cats since they eat mice, and refuses to touch cats. He will help any mouse he sees and loves to watch them eat, and likes how small and cute they are.

Espen goes through the story searching for the mother of the mystic forest. He believes she is in peril and needs help, and that's all he believes. He completely rejects any other religion or opinion on the forest, and how it was created. He can be stubborn sometimes in that sense.

Espen hates the wall that is separating the two continents that were once one, but mostly because they require mages and wizards to operate and take up resources from the forest of mystics, where he lived as a child. He doesn't like that young people are wasting away protecting a wall that really shouldn't be there in his opinion. However, the wall protects the entire land from invasion, but because of Espen's limited history education, he knows little about the wars between the continents and his opinions are slightly skewed to his worldview.

Works as a traveling shaman, helping people who need healing, or the use of his magic, for a small fee and food, and sometimes shelter in return for his services.

Espen's favorite food surprisingly enough is canned beans. He eats them all the time while he is traveling, and has grown quite fond of them, and will choose them over many other foods, surprising many of his comrades.

His staff, which can talk to him and has been his companion since he was eleven years old.

His staff, which he keeps with him at all times, even when he is sleeping. It can talk to him, like a friend could, so Espen is quite attached to it.

Espen knows a lot about the forest, the things in the forest, plants, and things relating to nature, since he grew up in an area that cares not about the entire history of Asca, but rather the history of the forest, and things relating to the forest. He knows little about the land, or laws of other lands. Often he will cross borders and get in trouble completely by accident.

Espen comes from the forest of mystics, which doesn't like to celebrate birthdays. They believe that they only measure age by wisdom, and each person takes a mental test to see their age. Espen got a rather bad score on his, so he tracked down the exact time and day he was born, and figured out how old he was. Now he doesn't celebrate his birthday because it reminds him of the horrid score he got on his mental age test.

He comes from a small town in the Forest of Mystics. He learned his magic there and grew up like a normal child, and had good parents. His parents still live there.

Espen doesn't have any pets, he loves animals and makes friends with them when he meets them in the forest, but never takes them with him since he travels so much. He normally just talks to his staff who loves to chat with him.

Espen is nice to everyone, but that's not really a good thing. He's nice to everyone on the outside, but judges people on the inside. You could be sure you would be ok with Espen because he is nice to you all week, then later find out he voted you off the group because of something you were doing. No one really knows where he stands, and it's terrible for teamwork.

Espen comes from the forest of Mystics, which is slightly notorious for keeping their youth in the dark about real-world truths. They are characterized as people who love the earth and nature and would do anything to keep it safe, even if it meant compromising others. Espen grew up into that mentality, and it shows in his hate for the wall separating the two continents. He always liked to sit in the forest by himself, since everyone else expected him to know many different types of magic. His father and mother were weak magic users, so they decided that for what they lacked, Espen could make up. Espen was born into a weak magic line, but his fire magic was strong, as well as his healing capabilities. But his parents saw no real potential in fire magic or healing magic. They wanted water magic, so Espen could become a profitable farmer, or wind magic so he could go to work in the construction of the village, using the wind to move heavy objects. Espen couldn't keep up with their expectations and thought it quite unfair that they judged him for something he was born into, and especially when they could do no better. Espen separated himself from them, and everyone else. The only person he could really connect with was his teacher of healing magic (name coming soon). She taught him that no matter what others said about his capabilities, to never listen to them. She also, however, taught that the wall needed to be torn down, to prevent further resources from being taken from the forests. Espen practically worships his teacher and adapted that strong feeling of hate towards the wall. His teacher was the one who gave him his staff, which had a little pumpkin lantern on the end, who was a soul on its own It could talk and had opinions. Espen fought with it often as a young child but learned to accept the words it said as wisdom. Seeing that he would never be truly happy in the Forest of Mystics, where expectations and ambitions of family loomed over him, he left at a young age to become the traveling shamen he is today. He goes around healing others in exchange for food, shelter, and when need be, money. Espen loved to search for the mother of the forest when he was a child. It was only a story told to him by a traveling merchant, but he never forgot it. He slowly got more and more convinced that she was real, and that she might be in trouble since no one believes in her anymore. He now secretly takes in clues and hints in his travels. Everywhere he goes, he looks for anyone who believes or knows anything. He has only gathered that she lives on the same continent and that she was exiled from the forest for a reason he has not uncovered yet. Nearly everyone in his group knows about his small obsession. Only a couple, dense people haven't picked up on it yet. They try to be supportive of it, but no one believes in the mother of the forest. He refuses to stop looking and won't rest until he finds her. Perhaps one day he will grow up and stop believing, or perhaps he will really find her one day.
