April 13, 1993—her birthmonth symbolizing renewal, aligning with her desire for change after the loss of Vea.
A once-respected therapist now dismissed as delusional for speaking about the Mask Realm. Rhea Calloway is a woman marked by a troubled past. Labeled crazy and ostracized, she was eventually affected by the Mask. She has been surviving in the Waterways alongside Odin Ruebridge, relying on her psychological expertise to keep them both sane. She believes the Mask Realm operates on psychological principles.
Her sister, Vea, once her closest ally, left her after Rhea couldn’t help but vent about the Mask Realm. Vea, unable to handle Rhea’s insistence that the Mask Realm was real, deemed her insane, claiming it was all in her head.
Their relationship had been strong, with Rhea’s core memory of Vea being the time she fought off a bully who had cut Vea’s hair. Rhea’s family history only made things harder—her father is in jail for robbery and attempted murder, a fact that caused Vea to be bullied during their youth. This history and the emotional toll it took on both sisters created a rift that still haunts Rhea. Rhea's only wish is to escape the Mask's grip, reconcile with Vea, and for Vea to be free from the Calloway's rotten roots and history.
She once had a therapy session with the man in the online article the cast found—the one that disappeared days later.
Rhea’s experience in the Mask Realm has been both terrifying and disorienting. Aside from her time spent in the Waterways, she’s encountered two other particularly harrowing areas: the Backstage and the Natatorium. The Natatorium is a surreal, nightmarish pool area that seems like an off-kilter version of a public swimming complex. Water flows in unnatural directions, the surface of the pools shifting as if alive. It’s a place of quiet horror, with the sound of water constantly echoing, yet the environment is oddly oppressive
