Though both of Hayden's parents were members of The Mage Hunters, Hayden never shared their sentiments. He always thought that while a line could be drawn the whole thing was a slippery slope that wasn't worth the trouble it would bring.

After The Collapse when the Hunters began down that road Hayden was worried about he headed to Brightwitch and joined The Adventurer's Guild instead; there was no point in finding who was to blame for the Collapse for him, but there was purpose to be found in helping people rebuild and recover.

Having no real talent for fighting despite being at least mildly proficient in some weapons, Hayden turned his attention to languages since that was where his strengths truly were and that made him perfect to work as an archivist for the Guild. Not in terms of keeping their records, but in looking through the castle's archives and making sure all the old records from the royalty were kept in shape and translated in case anything was useful to them.
