Gena was found abandoned on the steps of a church in Mith and raised by the local clergy. They never lied to her about her origins as they saw no reason in it, and thankfully rather than dwell on her abandonment Gena grew up thankful for those who decided to raise her.

As Mith is a port town Gena learned the basics of sailing from a young age and she was always fascinated with the sea and the concept of becoming a sailor herself. The clergy saw no point in dismissing her interest, and in fact did all they could to help her chase it. When she came of age they arranged for her to work on one of the cargo ships for a bit, and ever since then she's been sailing from one port to another, taking work where she can find it and returning to Mith when she can to bring souvenirs and let her family know she's okay.
