Roon (by close friends)
Roo (by Jay)
Non-binary woman (she/they)
18
5 feet 3 inches
Black
Jet-black, fairly wavy hair which she wears in a bob. Likes a half-up, half-down style sometimes. Pretty frizzy after the rain, otherwise shiny and wavy with a lot of volume.
Quite a rounded chin and soft features.
N/A
Dark brown-black
Dark, fairly thick eyebrows with a sideways teardrop shape. Piercings on each one. She can raise her right eyebrow by itself, and it freaks Jay out.
A round, wide nose with a bump halfway to the forehead, full lips often with her favourite shade of midnight blue lipstick on. Her mouth is usually slightly open (she's a mouth breather), and she mostly smiles with her mouth closed around strangers but her friends get to see her lil infectious grin.
Olive green (she's a Mirialan)
Round physique, pretty short.
Diamond and triangle tattoos under her eyes and on her chin - traditional Mirialan facial marks. Eyebrow, ear and nose piercings. A pattern of freckles in the shape of a wonky spiral on her left arm.
Puts a lot of effort into her clothes, makeup and overall presentation. In general, she has two styles that she likes to stick to, and a limited set of colours (her favourites). If she's willing to put more effort in or if she's performing with the band, she'll usually wear something pretty fancy and more flattering, including skirts, strapless tops, leather jackets, patterned tights and vintage gothic-style dresses. But if she can't be as bothered she'll go with something more loose like oversized band t-shirts, and ripped jeans. Loves the colours black, red, and dark blue - they make up 90% of her wardrobe.
Likes wearing a lot of makeup, especially dark lipstick and eyeshadow. Rarely seen without eyeliner!
oh and shoes! She mostly wears Doc Marten-style boots or taller ones that go up most of her calves (most of them are platforms so she can a) be tall and b) make clicky sounds when she walks around to announce her presence. win-win).
I kind of did that in the last one but anyway
Regular: dark blue embroidered crop top, vintage leather jacket, black pleated skirt, patterned tights, tall platform boots, lots of necklaces and rings.
Casual: oversized band t-shirt, baggy jeans, old canvas trainers

Aris believes in making the most out of life. Growing up in a fairly poor suburb of Corellia, where her entire existence revolved around a tiny flat, the apartment stairwell and her little school, left her hungry to see everything she possibly could fit into her lifetime. She loves to do things, she wants adventure and to experience what life outside of her formerly small existence has to offer, and though she doesn't often show her excitement openly like her best friend Corjai "Jay" Ke'var, she loves seeing new places, trying new things, and generally just doing anything out of her ordinary routine.
She's a realist who can come off as cynical or pessimistic. In truth, she wants to look on the bright side of things, but her fairly logical brain often has other ideas. Her childhood home was fairly rough, so she was taught to be careful and look out for herself on the streets, which left her with an alert, sharp and realistic mind. She's also honest and can be very blunt at times, simply because she sees no point in sugar-coating things for people. (As a kid, people around her were always straightforward and told the truth, and she doesn't always realise that not everyone's neighbours and family were quite so blunt with them.)
She's definitely not shy and would talk to anyone if she had to, but she's not one to go out of her way to socialise. Around most strangers, she's reserved and quiet, not because she's worried about talking to them, but because she doesn't feel like she has to say anything. However, around her friends she almost seems like a different person. She's loud and shows her most sarcastic and witty side. Most people will at some point end up on the receiving end of a withering comment or side-eye from Roon, but she doesn't mean anything by it. She just expects people to get over it and get used to it.
She puts a lot of effort and time into the things she loves, which includes her close friendships. She's protective of her friends and sees herself as the leader of her group, due to her tendency to be the one to speak out when needed. She also dedicates a lot of time to her other interests such as makeup and fashion, and while she doesn't care what others think of her, she likes to make an effort to look good for herself.
She can be stubborn - though she knows her limits and capabilities very well due to her realistic nature, she often overworks herself or refuses to let another person handle a job. This is because she knows she's a very capable and intelligent person (which she is!) so she has a hard time admitting that someone else might be better suited to a task. She's confident in her own abilities and rarely doubts herself or worries what others think of her.
MBTI: ESTP-A
I felt like this was fairly accurate apart from one or two things: she's not very perceptive, and she's a bit more introverted than this seems to suggest. However, otherwise it's pretty good - she's rational, direct, sociable when she wants to be, occasionally insensitive, impatient and kind of risk-prone (although she does know her own limits better than this page seems to think).
Chaotic Neutral
- not being able to protect the people she loves
- being stuck in a boring existence
educated until the age of 16, when she left school to become a full-time musician. at her school, she specialised in art, writing and music.
Roon was born on Corellia and lived with her dad, Jalan Aruni, in a small flat in a poor shipbuilding district near the north of the planet.
Jalan and his wife, Maysa, had left their home planet of Mirial to pursue their dreams of building and flying ships. However, only a few weeks after Roon was born, Maysa died in a tragic shipbuilding accident. Roon never knew her mother, only the story of her death that her small, tightknit neighborhood would discuss still years later. After Maysa's death, Jalan fell on hard times, and never moved out of the small, run-down apartment he and Maysa had initially bought together as a first home.
But although it could never be the life he had envisioned, Jalan never lost his love for building starships. He realised Maysa would want him to carry on their dream, and transferred to another small shipbuilding firm. All the love he had for Maysa, he poured out to his daughter, Aris. He had to be strong for her, to bring her up in the best way he could.
Coincidentally, in the flat above Jalan and Aris', a couple lived with a young son the same age as Roon: Corjai "Jay" Ke'var. Initially jealous of his completely identical but apparently superior flat, Roon eventually became friends with Jay and the two would spend hours playing in either of their flats, the ever-fascinating stairwell (or even better, the lift), or when their parents let them out, the streets of their small Corellian district. As they grew up, they grew closer, each having found a lifelong best friend. In most ways they were opposites: Jay's optimism and occasional naivety balanced out Roon's cynical realism. But they did share one trait: a love of music and singing. When they were little, they'd pretend to be their favourite pop stars off the Holonet, and when they were older, they'd write their own songs and play duets together.
When Roon was 16, she heard an advert for a music festival on Scarif that would feature tons of their musical idols. Desperate to visit a planet other than their own for the first time, she and Jay both found jobs in the local machinery processing plant in order to save up some money. They worked long, meticulous and insanely boring hours, but eventually managed to scrape together what they needed to get transport offworld and festival tickets.
From the vibrant natural landscape to the literal real OCEAN to the amazing festival itself, Scarif was everything she had hoped it would be. At the festival, she and Jay met three teenagers their age who also shared their passion for music: Ferl Osmala, Fyzel Queven, and Elyon Flint. They clicked instantly and became fast friends. Even when they all went home to their respective planets, they kept in touch and eventually decided to form a band thanks to their mutual talent and love for music.
Four years later, and the band (which they called The Anomalythm - Fyzel's creation), after writing several albums' worth of songs and practicing together whenever they could, decided to enter a galactic talent competition; through this, they gained huge popularity and a large fanbase, eventually reaching the final. Although they were finally beaten by a troupe of dancing womp rats, they had caught the eye of several record labels and were offered a contract. Within six months, they had released their first album, Hyperdrive, to huge success.
Born and raised on Corellia in her tiny but cosy flat.
Now lives on the band's starship/tour bus.
Father: Jalan Aruni
Roon had an extremely close relationship with her father. They share the same sense of sarcastic, cynical humour and so get along perfectly. They love nothing more than to watch a TV show that they know perfectly well will annoy them, just so they can make fun of how bad it is.
Roon's protective streak extends to her father, and she is determined to give him as much of her earnings as possible so that he can live a good, comfortable life.
Mother: Maysa Aruni
Roon never knew her mother, and never really felt like she was missing anyone in her life. Though she was curious about what she was like (especially after hearing a ton of rumours about her death), she never really felt too upset about her lack of mother. However, she did wish Maysa had never died, though not for Roon's own sake - for her father's. She wished Maysa could still be alive, so that her dad would be truly happy.
No siblings, a very happy only child! She and Jay are so close she considers him a brother, really.
Jalan and Maysa left their whole lives behind them on Mirial, and Jalan never spoke about any other family. Roon got the sense they disapproved of the two leaving their home for Corellia, and that he was worried they would blame him for Maysa's death.
Lesbian
Jay Ke'var
Roon considers all the members of The Anomalythm her best friends, but the person she's known the longest is Corjai "Jay" Ke'var. The two grew up together and know each other inside out. Jay is the only person who can really get away with annoying or teasing Roon: everyone else will get a withering look or comment, Jay just gets a 'hmph'. Roon isn't the type to go on about how much she loves her friends, but she lets Jay know how much she cares just by the sheer amount of time she spends with him, and by just sitting next to him or linking arms. She doesn't like to admit it, but she loves this guy - she'd just never say it to his face. (And she doesn't need to. He knows.)
The two of them have so many so many shared experiences (that's what knowing someone since you're 6 years old does to you), they have an endless supply of stories and memories to laugh about. Roon's favourites are the ones where Jay ends up looking like an idiot thanks to his own general incompetence. (Jay denies this, but unfortunately most of the time it's a fair assessment.)
Jay's optimism keeps Roon's cynicism in check, and vice versa, and Roon appears to be a completely different person to who she is when she's around strangers. She laughs a lot more, she makes stupid jokes and random references only Jay would understand, and she's a lot louder and more sarcastic (which isn't usually directed at Jay - mostly it's ranting about whatever annoyed her that day - but he's never completely exempt from the sarcasm storm). They don't have much in common, so they argue a lot, but never seriously. They like having debates about food, or films, or clothes, but however different they may be, they would defend and protect each other till their last breath. Jay can make Roon happy more than anyone else, and Roon would honestly do anything to protect this guy.
Ferl Osmala
Ferl and Roon met at the Scarif Festival, where they stayed in adjacent pods. Roon was initially drawn to Ferl because of her obvious interest in fashion, which she shared, and invited her to hang out with her and Jay at the festival. Turns out, the two of them had a lot in common: they both loved sewing and fashion, they were both into music and were big fans of the same artists, they both grew up in quite similar environments.
Roon loves nothing more than spending time with her closest friends and would go to the ends of the earth for you if she loves you. However, she is pretty indifferent to crowds of strangers. She doesn't care what people think of her and she's definitely not shy, but being around people she doesn't know just doesn't interest her. She loves a good party, though - if she sees someone she thinks looks cool she'll go up and talk to them (and if not, then she'll just ignore you lmao).

that's what she'd say anyway. their story doesn't involve weapons really but if she were to fight she'd use a miniature blaster.
Storms - she lives for the drama of it and loves looking out of her window to see the lightning. They do scare her a little, but she likes that feeling.
