Chirp Romero
Aleah, Marcanus, Shifter, Traveler, Salesman, Stephan, Yllenah, (there's more, I just can't write all of them)
She thinks of herself as she/her, but her biology changes so often it can get a bit muddy.
24
230 lbs, she prefers her bones to be made of harder materials than calcium(Copper bones), and thus the rest of the body has to conform, she doesn't look large, but is startlingly heavy.
5'5" / 168cm
Shiny black, pure, without any hints of other colors.
Her hair is cut short, in a fraying outward pattern, it stops at about the nape of the neck, but goes outwards in a fan like shape from the sides.
She HATES making hair, it's different from flesh and blood, and it's so many individual strands. While she's managed hair with some decency, the rest of the body is void of hair, unless given large amounts of time or its completely necessary for a role.
Gold eyes, with undertones of grey. Her eyes themselves are large, almost cow-like, which pairs nicely with her heart-shaped face.
Changeling
Lightly tan skin.
Chirp has broad, just downward sloping shoulders, unusually long legs and normal sized arms.
A heart-shaped face and nimble hands. As well as a small tattoo on her wrist of a bird in flight and complex twisting patterns covering her back.
Small ears and nose, but with massive eyes. When she's under extreme stress the gold in her eyes can bleed more into silver-grey colors, like the color is draining away. Along with a thin neck to match the curve of her shoulders.
Chirp can forget to blink occasionally, and while her bodies need to breath and eat to keep going, she sometimes forgets to do those as well. Her joints can also move in ways that a human bodies should not, making her movements occasionally awkward or unnatural.
Since her personality is highly dependent on who she is mimicking, Chirp has developed a sort of loss when she wants to actually express feelings. Her smile is a mix from other people, her sad taken directly from a little boy she once met, her curiosity an imitation of a woman she'd been, the way she moves her hands when anxious taken from a lover long gone. A physical manifestation of the people she's been and those who have impacted her. While being such a human trait, Chirp takes it to the extremes, she physically doesn't know how to express herself as herself, only as others.
She likes to think that her motivations are very cut and dry. She hates owing favors to people and owes many powerful people favors. She's trying to pay them all back. As quickly, efficiently, or as tricky as she can.
Yet, of course nothing is so simple. Chirp is easily attached to people, while never truly being able to connect. She steals relationships, inserting herself into the lives of people and playing their roles, trying to feel their emotions, but feeling lost all the while. She needs human connections, desperately, but goes about it in a way that only harms her.
Chirp isn't wholly moral, the fae having a different concept of the word. She gets herself into loopholes and too much trouble. She's also friendly to the point of distraction.
She's not overly trusting, but she forms attachments almost immediately. She falls in love immediately, accepts friends immediately, and cares immediately.
While she respects humans on a certain level, being able to shift and pretend to be people has left Chirp with a slightly.. Stilted view of them.
Chirp is incredible at shapeshifting, having perfect control over ever fiber and muscle her body, able to control and contort them how she wishes. She doesn't need all internal organs like a normal human, just the bare minimum before the body forces her to turn to her true form again, so she likes to store extra bones in places bones should not be. She's also a good actor, only being able to slip into roles when she's wearing a specific face, however.
Carving wood and bone into talismans, watching everything around her, and weaving baskets.
She is not easily shaken or surprised and takes everything in stride. Endlessly curious about things. Very pleasant and friendly, but she has trouble picking up on the more subtle human cues involved in speaking rather than body language. So she has to focus hard during conversations. Chirp is a crafty person underneath all the smiles, and does what she can to further her goals. An incurable optimist and a very.. Well. Chirpy person!
A personality ripped directly from the face she's worn so long she's almost come to think of it as hers.
The runic tattoo on her back is a curse. It has very specific activation triggers, but there will be devastation if it does.
Chirp can not touch iron, is burns her skin and is incredibly painful for her, even if she's fully taken the body of what would otherwise be a full human.
March 2
Chirp technically got an education, when she was small her parents taught her what she could and as she got older it was a trivial matter to go to school as a "normal" child.
A changeling is born to the fae, but is swapped at birth with a human child. This is essentially what happened to our changeling girl here, Romero being her human parents last name. She grew slower than other children, but was far too intelligent for her age, which led to suspicions of witchcraft and demons in the child. Her parents, still feeling as if it were their child didn't wish to abandon her, but were eventually persuaded under threat of death to leave the baby in the woods. Forced to adapt, Chirp spent much of her life in beast shapes, learning what she could about human anatomy and behavior from travelers that were hopelessly lost or were willing to speak with her. Over time she began to gravitate more towards small towns and villages, working her way into the community before disappearing without a trace, moving on to the next. In large cities now, she began to find work, being able to disappear when things went south, taking on a new appearance and beginning again. Here she met the person who she would eventually become, taking on their life, personality, and face. She also found her reason for anger at the world, a driving force that keeps her in this city, not running.
No.
Her parents were good people, In Chirps mind even her name isn't her own, as Romero is their last names and Chirp isn't the one she was born with. Real names are dangerous for the fae to hand out easily. Her father was a carpenter and her mother a seamstress in a small village on the outskirts of some border or another. She was their first child but not their last, after being forced to abandon their presumed cursed child in the woods they eventually had more, much more normal, kids. Chirp doesn't know it, but she has two siblings. A boy and a girl.
She falls in love much too easily. She's had many.
-Under the 'looks' tab I just went with Chirps favorite standard human form. Her true changeling form has white skin and hair, hollow, empty eyes, and silver/black veins.
-Based heavily on fae mythology and the kandra from Brandon Sanderson 'Mistborn', as well as a few other myths thrown in for flavor.
-"It's Always Tea Time Darling"
In intense, unrelenting heat, Chirp has been known to modify her body to appear at first glance like she's wearing something, but it is, as a matter of fact, just colored skin. Kind of like a full body tattoo, but the flesh smooths out underneath it.
Wearing many layers isn't technically a requirement (she can just deaden the skin that picks up on cold), she will try to follow seasonal trends to avoid suspicion from others.
Chirp adores wearing dresses, no matter what kind. From simple milk-maids skirts and tops to elaborate ballgowns. Maybe its the natural flamboyance, but she likes them because they make her feel pretty, something physical that she can change like her faces, but somehow feels more.. Permanent. Yet changing. A contradiction that she loves.
Jewelry is a struggle, since she can't touch iron or stuff made with it, and she can't properly imitate metal with flesh. She has to physically get it, but she can make as many piercings as she wants!
Literally no need unless the person she's imitating has been known to wear lots of make-up and she can't get the texture exactly right.
Shapeshifting? Pretty sure at least lol

She believes whatever pantheon is established exists, she simply doesn't have much respect for them.
Chirp has a nasty habit of weaseling herself close to people in power, its something in her blood, and Every. Single. Time. She is surprised when they betray her.
As a person with many faces, Chirp has done numerous jobs, anywhere from local handy man to politician. Her longest career was working in a brothel, which covertly specialized in assassinating some of the more important clientele.
Maroon and silver
Mushrooms and aged meat
She carries skulls of animals with her, as a base for shifting into the creatures. They're all carved with intricate designs, patterns of swirls and flowers gently scratched into them. Her own standard human skull is the most intricate, though it can only be seen if she abandons the human form or is in her true changeling form, where the skin is near transparent.
Daggers that are made of non-ferrous metals, rock, or some form of glass or crystal. Really anything that's quick, quiet, and not made of iron.
Lizards, specifically leopard geckos
