Being considered nobility of a sort did not exempt Lily from being taken by the guilds when she was born. In fact her parents happily handed her over, and she was taken first to Vico. When she was found to have magical powers she stayed with them, training under [[Group-28166]] as an [[Job-4173]].

When she turned eighteen the choice was hard; she knew the guild would be glad to have her, and if she stayed it would mean steady work and more time to practice the powers she had grown so used to having. But if she turned her back on her family she gave up her claim as the house heir, and as she was the first born child of the family that would have its own consequences. Most notably that her parents were already elderly, having had some trouble bearing children and so having Lily and her younger brother later in their lives than they would have liked. While the brother was still within the guilds and could make the choice for himself upon graduation there was no guarantee her parents would live that long or that her brother would wish to take up the mantle as head of the house.

Still, Lily had many friends in the guild and aspirations of making her family proud by becoming the Guild Leader so she chose to stay. On top of that she knew what being head of her family would mean, and while it was an important duty it was one she had very little interest in.

Just after she turned twenty five Lily found herself as part of the Inner Circle for the Guild Leader at the time, and he found himself impressed by her skills and most notably by her kindness. In times past the Guardian and resident Goddesses would have come together to choose a new Guild Leader from the Inner Circle, but since their deaths the tradition shifted to the Guild Leader being allowed to choose their own successor and Lily was named, so when the man passed a few years later she found herself having achieved her dreams.

It is a position that Lily considers and honor and knows is a privilege. Only by the will of the people does she maintain power, for they can decide she is unfit and have her overruled and a new Guild Leader put in her place at any time. Because of that, and because she wants to, Lily has always been good about looking out for her people and making friendly alliances with the other Guild Leaders - something that has earned her a lot of trust among the other members of the Moonwood Ravens, as they do truly believe at least for now Lily has their best interests at heart.
