Born in a drow outpost so close to the surface, Vornd grew up having plenty of exposure to the outside world and cultures well other than his own. Wanting to escape the society that saw him as lesser to his mother and sisters he snuck out with a traveling group of priests when he was young and never looked back.

The priests, after all, had pity on him and understood his want to escape. But they insisted he learn of Azmar, a god that he likely would have learned of had his own culture not been so closed off to the idea of any deity but their own.

As he grew, Vornd learned of a shrine in the The Duntara Peaks that was for Azmar and he went there to study with the shrine keeper to some day replace him.

Instead Vornd found the keeper dead. Given that few ventured into the mountains during the winter it wasn't surprising, however, so Vornd bunkered down to keep the shrine as best he could until the spring thaw. His would be mentor was given a proper burial at that time, and Vornd was put in charge of the shrine since he'd done a spectacular job of keeping it all winter.

To this day he remains there, quietly tending a nearly abandoned shrine in the mountains.....
