Raichu
Goldish-brown with hazel and yellow markings
As with all other Raichu, Ray has goldish-brown fur, soft and coarse, maybe with a couple of sparks dancing between hairs now and then. He has hazel sock markings around his paws, feet, and ears. He has a cream white belly and a wiry gray tail, which culminates into a large lemon yellow lightning bolt shape.
Deep brown
Ray has deep brown, almost black eyes, akin to those of his daughter, and graying eyebrows commonly furrowed into a thoughtful or worried expression. He has a soft and furry goldish-brown coat and mahogany brown ears, which have honey yellow interiors and points which curl downwards into a flat spiral. He has a pair of electricity pouches, lemon yellow, upon his cheeks.
As mentioned above, his tone and patterns are just about average for a middle-aged Raichu. His snout and ears are ticked with a gray beyond his years, caused by the stress he’s endured over the past decade on account of his wife and daughter.
Ray wears a single thin bronze necklace in the shape of a lightning bolt around his neck. His estranged wife, Martha, has a matching one — the necklaces were their engagement gifts to each other after Ray first proposed.

Modest and alert, Ray’s simply just trying his best to get by in life and take care of his young daughter, Flower. He’s a great problem-solver and gets work done quickly and efficiently, though he’s been a bit down in the dumps lately due to his current marital circumstances. He loves to read and is a big history nerd, but unfortunately, he doesn’t find much time for it anymore, as he has a child to raise, a house to take care of, and a murderous wife to stay far away from.
Modest, capable of taking hits
Ray is an introverted Raichu of the Lawful Good alignment.
Ray struggles with making big decisions, as he tends to try and think of all of the possible consequences and what he can do to avoid them. He gets stressed easily under pressure, especially with the recent weight of caring for Flower in a single household. Ray dislikes conflict and tries to solve every problem in a peaceful way beneficial for all parties, so he’s notably reluctant to defend himself in battle. He may be a little paranoid when it comes to letting Flower socialize or participate in public events.
Ray tends to fiddle around with things in his hands while preoccupied. He dislikes being interrupted during work and becomes snappy when irritated. Most of the time, though, he’s a polite and respectful man.

Ray is very protective of his daughter, Flower. Anyone who messes with her will find that, as a fully evolved Raichu, he can pack quite a punch in battle. After disassociating with his wife and moving away to the secluded Harbor Island, he swore that he would be the best single dad possible for his daughter, in comprehension for not having Martha around, and keep her away from her forever.
Ray is a big history buff and loves to learn about and discuss the regions’ pasts. He’s an awesome problem-solver, and his friends and neighbors often come to him for advice. He’s good at mathematics, especially algebra and geometry.
Ray loves to read nonfiction in his spare time, along with listening to country music (and maybe singing the lyrics afterward in the shower), writing poetry, and playing corn hole.

Northpass Town, Harbor Island, the Grass Continent
Ray is a very knowledgeable Raichu, having completed regular school and college for archaeology and teaching, the former of which he earned a PhD in. He has a high intellect and knows a lot about history and math.
Ray grew up as the middle child of three in a small town on the Mist Continent, which was mostly dedicated to farming and wilderness protection. After middle school, his family moved closer to the coast, though they all kept their rural traditions and habits from their old home. After graduating high school, he realized his dream of becoming an archeologist and moved to the Grass Continent to study this. He earned a PhD and began his studies in the areas near and in Mystery Dungeons, especially in Bizarria Forest, the first determined home of the Genesicadas.
His first major discovery was the uprooting of a petrified tree in the heart of said forest, which seemed to have been warped by a power surge or radiation from something in its core. After testing, it was determined that the radiation was akin to that from an Ultra Wormhole. This was a massive breakthrough in the study of the Genesicadas and their origin, though Ray regrets his work into the matter, as because of it, some of the public has begun to turn against the friendly and peaceful Ultra Beasts living in the world around them.
His second major breakthrough was the discovery of a rescue team currently on its way out of the Bizzaria Forest at the time that Ray was scheduled to depart. As Ray was packing his bags to pick up the lab’s analysis of the fossilized tree back home, a team of three came out of the forest behind him; a Pelipper, a Ferrothorn, and a Raichu, like him. This Raichu, who he would learn to know was named Martha, was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen, and evidently she thought the same, because soon after the two had begun to date, and not long after, they were engaged. After proposing, he took her to a local jewelry shop, where they bought each other necklaces, as the digits on Raichu paws aren’t very dexterous and are quite hard to wear rings on. It was just a few months before they got married and had their first daughter, who they named Flower. Martha stayed at home, going on occasional outings to do rescue team things and to chat with friends in a nearby village. Ray, on the other hand, went to teaching school and worked hard in his job in archaeology in the meantime.
But after a while, Martha began to spend more and more time with the wrong crowd near Serene Village, becoming less and less like the woman she was when he had married her. She became cold and outlandish, occasionally violent, and her sense of humor darkened and twisted to the point where Ray was scared of her. Eventually, he packed his bags, and, in the night, took Flower and trekked with all his possessions away from her, all the way down to the nearest river port, where he booked a ferry to whichever island would take the least time to get to. After safely arriving in what he found to be Harbor Island, and successfully abandoning Martha for Flower, he settled down in the leafy Northpass Town and swore that he would become the best parent he could be in place of Martha, and that he would keep her safe from his wife until she fixed herself or until he no longer had to hide from her. He remains in Northpass today, living off of his old archeologist funds and working as an occasional tutor or substitute teacher for students in the area.
His relationship with Martha, his estranged wife, is... somewhat complicated, in that he still loves her but no longer feels comfortable keeping himself or his child around her. To be totally honest, he’s a little bit afraid of her in her current state.
To Flower, however, Ray attempts to be the best possible father he can be. He loves her “as much as a Gabite loves his treasure,” as he would describe it, though admittedly he’s way too protective and has dad instincts to a fault. This has partly contributed to his daughter’s shyness, which he recognizes and feels deeply sorry for at heart, but at the same time, he feels like a bad parent letting his guard down around her. His daily stress taking care of her certainly doesn’t contribute anything good to his actions.
“I don’t like autumn. It’s a strange season. It’s cold, but not terribly cold; the kind of cold where it’s chilly and uncomfortable to be outside, but there’s no valid reason to go back inside where it’s warm. It’s afraid to be too cold, so it does so just enough that it’s awkward. Not like winter; winter’s cold and it’s not afraid to be up in your face about it. I like winter for that.”
— Ray, about the season of autumn
“Martha, please. I can’t let her be around you anymore. As a responsible parent, I can’t let her be in your vicinity. You’re different now. You’ve been violent lately and it’s scaring me. I’m sorry. But I can’t let you be around her and think it’s safe.”
— Ray to Martha about Flower
“There, there, it’s all right. Do you think you can go back to sleep now? No more nightmares?”
— Ray to Flower

Let me know if there are any weird punctuation errors or run-on sentences anywhere; Notebook was being an obnoxious turtle while I was making this and decided not to save anything except for the Looks section and half of the Nature section, so I had to go back in my cache to where I still had all of the sections filled out (they were still written in my history, they just weren’t SAVING onto the SECTIONS where they were SUPPOSED TO BE, UGH) and added a period to the end of each of them to get them to actually save. But then the buckarooing backyardigan of a program decided to delete my Family and Notes sections so I lost all this and then had to rewrite everything about Flower and his quotes and his theme songs and whatnot >:(
(This is a wonderful website, by the way, as demonstrated by the fact that I said “buckarooing backyardigan” up there and not something more offensive. I’m just a little annoyed that it didn’t save my hard work, that’s all, I get that the autosave feature is still in development.)

Ray prefers defensive tactics over offensive ones in battle and usually waits for the opponent to make their move before he does. He’s notably weaker against Ground types due to his moveset.
