Her mother was a Japanese foreign exchange student and got pregnant as a teen. Her father, Mark, married her mother, Kiyoomi, when they turned eighteen. From the very start, Lena’s family was shamed from their cultures. Lena’s mother was disowned for her young pregnancy while Lena’s father was beat for his infidelity. Because of this; Lena had an incredibly strict unbringing. Though, despite it all, Lena’s parents insisted on raising Lena in both Japanese and Mexican cultures. She was raised to be a prodigy. Her father was a scientist. When Lena was nine, his laboratory caught flame and set fire to the house. Lena would’ve died in the smoke if it weren’t for her father saving her but getting insanely injured in the process. He woke up in the hospital and was greeted with a woman named Katelyn Martin. Kate was his childhood friend. She offered him the chance to run away with her; away from society, away from the city, away from it all. He took the offer and told the nurses to tell his family he was dead. Lena lived with the guilt of her father dying for the rest of her life. Lena’s mother was pregnant before her husband died; never getting the chance to tell him. Despite the heartbreak, Lena’s mother tried to raise her daughter like they would’ve together but ended up putting too much pressure on Lena to succend. Lena still became a successful student but needed chances to get away. She’d confide in boys, clubs, and blooze to do so.
