Ezekiel Arísen
The Storm
Anti-Hero
Nezumi- It's the nickname the towns folk gave to him after he was kicked from the palace. He sort of took it on later as no one would believe him when he said that he was Prince Ezekiel. Sort of like a fuck you if a street rat can beat you up and also because renaming himself felt foreign, as if it'd make his past meaningless.
Although, throughout the book he's more commonly known as Nezumi. The only people who know of his true name are Haru, the palace members and a few odd people here and there. This is because in exchange for Ezekiel's safety, Haru took Ezekiel's place as prince meaning that Haru took on his name as well.

It's short and choppy in the front and longer in the back. His hair falls right above his hips and he often has a gold ring around the longer part of his hair to form a low ponytail. As a kid, his hair was always kept short to be deemed proper however, once he was abandoned, it grew in length due to being without resources.

White with a tint of purple, they almost seem as if they're glowing and his gaze has been known to feel as if he's not looking at you, but directly at your soul instead.
Later on, when he develops powers, his eyes are one of the main sources of his magic. Whenever he's heavily using magic, a sort of rune/sigil like mark will develop on his irises.
Modified Human- need to come up with a name for them.
Fair with yellow undertones, although he's fairly quick to tan under the sun.
As he trained with weaponry from a young age, he's developed quite a lot of muscle definition, especially around his arms and thighs. Whilst he's not completely bulked up, he's a Mesomorph with an athletic build.
Pristine white hair- which is commonly looked down upon since it's linked to the myth of being kissed by death. Most people born with this will usually dye their hair or get it permanently changed through magic. It is said that bad luck and ill fate follows those who befriend one who has been touched. The same can be said for those who are born with incredibly dark black hair, to the point where even under harsh light it'll seem akin to the void.
A faint scar below his left eye and one across his top lip on the right side. He also has several other marks along his body.
Nezumi tends to keep his body mostly covered due to the worrying amount of sigils on his skin. Since he was born without one, as a child he went through several "methods" of awakening or giving someone power. This included him being branded with different sigils of all sorts of powers. Most of them cover his back, arms and thighs. The only one he can't hide properly is one that represents balance or commonly known as the Justice scales; it was placed on the left side of his jaw.
Naturally relaxed and unbothered as if the world should wait for him. Tends to smirk/has a sly grin and has a look in his eyes as if he's ready to devour someone.
-Playing with his ring when nervous.
-Touching his face randomly because he's used to adjusting his mask.
-When he's really concentrating or trying to focus his face will sour and it'll seem as if he's annoyed.
He refuses to give his parents the satisfaction of them getting away with their crimes. This also applies to all the other nobles who hid behind masks and pretences.
He wishes to one day live free and peacefully with Haru, whether it be in a small cottage far away from civilisation or to explore the world with him.
Far too quick to jump into action, he's pretty reckless with his life.
Not so forgiving, he's hard on others and himself. Once he has been wronged, he won't be quick to forget it.
It's hard for him to accept love or kindness so he's pretty closed off with his feelings.
Pride pride pride
Doesn't care about morality or what the right thing to do is. The only person he'd be ashamed to face after committing a big crime would be Haru.
Can do/say childish things at times, mostly because he wasn't able to grow up properly as a child should have.
Cautious around new people- especially those who act nice and are overly friendly. Same with virtuous hero type people, he'd rather place his trust in delinquents. This is because he knows how easy it is to lie and growing up around royals/guards that pretend to do good for humanity's sake, he's seen who they truly are.
When it comes to combat, he's especially skilled with swords and his fists. He's quick thinking in a fight and as he's been training since childhood, his mobility is incredible.
Ballroom dancing- when music would play from the town square, he'd dance with the beasts/spirits of the forest and Haru would join him
Cooking- he used to sneak into the kitchen and cook food for Haru so it served as practice. He was caught once however, the chef was kind and taught him in secret.

Nezumi is more of an anti-hero, borderline villain. Up until his 20th birthday, whenever he had to go outside he had to wear a mask because he was raised to believe that if anyone looked at him they’d die. So eventually, this becomes a part of his persona where if he takes off his mask, he willingly puts people in danger without really giving a shit.
Sarcasm is his default setting and he acts on instinct, he’s stubborn and doesn’t really value common morals. Getting hurt himself has never been a source of his worries but he’d put his life on the line to protect those he cares for. He doesn’t understand why people could learn to love/care for him and although he’s convinced himself that he can only do bad, he’s pretty soft and sensitive beneath the layers. Just your resident idiot™️ that likes to bury his guilt. He's still in the process of accepting that he went through shit as a kid instead of pushing it to the side. He's hard set in his beliefs and despite being weary of newcomers, he's quick to build strong relationships if he thinks he can trust them.

Around collage level although his social skills aren't there yet. Mostly because he was told to be careful around others. and he was brought up within the palace so he never went to school.
TW: abuse, self harm
Born into the royal family, he was immediately shunned due to being born without a mark that indicated power. As he would be the successor of the throne, strong magic is a must so his parents were more than disappointed. For 20 years, they would try several different methods of giving him power. From magic baths, branding, prayer etc. However, Ezekiel would be unable to recall any of this due to the fact his parents would wipe his memory clean of any abuse. So, despite the amount of marks his body developed, he believed that he was loved and cared for. In case he would never develop magic, the king and queen made him wear a mask and fully cover his body when going outside. This way, they could easily replace him with an orphan and claim them to be Prince Ezekiel. To make sure that he would do as they said, they told him that his powers were within his eyes and if anyone looked at him, even for a second, they would die.
There were quite a few occasions where a maid or townsperson would end up seeing his face and they would later be killed to further prove that the lie was true. To make matters worse, they would make Ezekiel bury their bodies as a way to remember what he had done so he'd never repeat the mistake again. But as time went on, more bodies would pile up from slip ups until one night his mother handed him a sword and told him to punish himself and forever carry the guilt of their death upon his body.
At this point, he would sneak out of the palace to go into the forest that surrounded the kingdom. Whilst he's normally allowed to go outside, there are always guards around him to report on his behaviour. So, he would go out after dark for some alone time. This is when he met Haru after an incident where Ezekiel was nearly caught by a wandering beast and they grew to become close friends.
After 20 years had passed, his ceremony was just weeks away where he would showcase his powers and add it to the barrier that protected the kingdom. Knowing it was far to late, he was to be executed in private. And as he accepted his fate, Haru created a barrier of flames between them. Swearing that if Ezekiel could be set free, he would take his place and pretend to fit the role. Noticing that Haru had been gifted with immense power, the King and Queen agreed which is how Ezekiel found himself homeless. It didn't matter to them if he lived because they knew that no one would believe him.
And true to their thoughts, no one did. Instead they called him Nezumi (street rat), leading him to find a witch and get her to fake the Arcane's mark upon his body. With the mark, he would be respected and could easily get things he needed like shelter and food.
Nezumi's prayer had been answered however due to certain events that took place, he was unable to make a connection with Amestos, the deity of sacrifice.
The power he develops later on is necromancy. A lot of his power stems from mirage and guilt.
Class:Cursed power
Summon: The deaths he causes and regrets, he’s able to summon their spirits and use them to help fight. Whilst they are by his side, they’re not able to pass on and instead live to serve him. However, depending on the spirt, the longer they stay the more unruly they will become and unwilling to serve. Their spirits can become unholy and tainted, turning into a beast sprit that does harbour much more power than a normal one. However, they will not be able to pass on even after Ezekiel's death. Beast spirits are trapped within their own nightmares and guilt, the stronger their negative feelings are the more power prince will have.
He’s able to gather spirit energy and modify it by either turning it into arrows or swords. Depending on how he forms it, he’s able to either make the arrows pass through someone which delivers a shock sort of feeling. This stuns them for a couple of seconds and can cause them to lose their train of their thought, action or mobility. It’s said that being struck by one of these feels as if you’re being frozen from the inside out. A large amount of arrows could definitely cause frostbite or death. The other form his weapons can take is solid which deals harm just as anay other weapon would by striking the opponent.
Bright blue almost white flames can also be formed.
Whilst most have their power sigils on parts of skin, his eyes hold them instead which is why he has to wear a mask over his eyes. Once taken off, merely holding his gaze for too long whilst he’s feeling negative emotion can cause him to disintegrate someone immediately.
He can also sense when someone is about to die, it’ll smell exactly like death to him and he can’t handle it. At first he’d immediately puke and wasn’t able to bare the stench.
If he uses his powers for far too long, it can cause him to act on intrusive thoughts that stem from negative emotion. It can either cause him to spiral and slowly lose control of himself or even start to physically change his appearance/hurt him. He’ll start to see people he holds a connection too or people he has killed in the past. They’ll blame him for his actions and mentally tear him to shreds.
Inanimation—stopping the process of death or slowing it down., pain inducement.
"A part of us is always slowly dying from the minute we are born. So, I merely grasp on to it and inflate it until its reaped all its sorrow and strippen the morality of my actions. You say I play God, oh believe me Meiyer, if there’s one thing I am not, it is God. I cannot be atoneable for all this sin, all this suffering. If anything, I am just the reaper"
"It took me a while to understand. All this time, I thought I had been feeding him flowers but it seems, I had forgotten to check for thorns"
“Those with a heart full of darkness do not see themselves differently within a mirror. They are not haunted by who they once were or who they’ll become. They simply live in the present yet here I am, having a conversation you, myself. So, contrary to your—our belief, I am not truly evil. My actions are justified”
"If love were but a fleeting feeling, I'd fall deeper within it with you"
"The day your parents had died must have been one of your worst. Well for me, it was nothing more than just another day"
"I've killed more than you've spoken the name of. I am not afraid to burn these castle walls down"
"Prosper in my death for it'll be my greatest deed if it comes"
none, he wasn't allowed any although he'd make friends with the animals in the forest.
He's not very religious but still believes in the deitys since their mark can be seen all around them from the beasts, to powers and dreams that people have about them. For a long time, he used to pray to them and begged for any to listen and grant him power however, along the way he lost faith and swore to never ask them for help again.
He isn't one for following the law or listening to the words of those that govern the land. Since he has met them personally and knows what they do behind closed doors; Nezumi lives the way he wants to under the rules he sets.
Arcane Squad Member- they're a vigilante group full of incredibly strong magic users. They don't agree with some of the rules law implements and refuse to work for the King and Queen. Which is why instead of joining the royal guards, they created their own group and sometimes work missions alongside the guards. They do wreck a lot of havoc within Oridian but the royals do not want Arcane to go against them in fear of the loss it'll cause. So the King and Queen allow them to do what they want as long as they protect the kingdom. Arcane are loved and known throughout Oridian, they often get free access to food and housing due to the things they have done for everyone.
