Minithra was born and raised in Myrin, her parents being archivists themselves and always expecting her to follow in their footsteps. She was well on her way to that, but in her youth both of her parents died; an adventuring party had asked them to come along to provide knowledge against an unknown foe, something that killed not just that party but sadly her parents as well.

After many years of demanding answers and looking for the truth, Minithra realized that the creature responsible was an aboleth. Her parents had been trying to stop it from getting into The Binder's Archive along with several others, most of whom had been slain. Those that survived sacrificed what little they had left to banish the creature for good, dying as help arrived.

Minithra was heartbroken, her parents had been her whole world and their deaths had sent everything crashing down. She blamed the archives, blamed them for not warning her parents and everyone else who went in there of what exactly they were facing. And then she vowed to bring them down, praying to any entity willing to listen for the power to do so.

A nihileth was what answered her. Unlike its aboleth brethren, the nihileth only sought knowledge and was willing to be as nonviolent as possible to obtain what it sought. Many would use violence on it because they didn't understand it, so it was constantly looking for ways to bargain. It offered Minithra what she could never hope for; a way to rise to be head archivist of the archive in Myrin so she could gain access to the secrets the archive kept, and in exchange all it asked was that she use her position to undermine the defenses that kept it out of the building so it could infiltrate and study in as much relative peace as possible. Some were sure to fall under its sway, but they could be cured once it was gone.

At first this seemed like a dream come true. Minithra vowed herself to the nihileth, allowed it to mark her body to control her, and she kept her end of the deal. What that means for her long term, however, is unknown....
