Kuno
21 years.

The Hero, the Phoenix.
The Broken Hero Draped In Gold
Mostly black with gold accents. Wears a simple eyepatch, and sometimes wears gloves if he wants to blend in more. Wears clothes typical to The Gealei.
Slightly pointed chin, straight nose, thin lips.
Missing the top knuckle of his pinkie and ring finger on both hands. His right eye doesn't exist.
Has a lot of scars.
Strong, very strong. He is lean, however, and very graceful. He does look like he could kill you, though.
Warm brown.
Human.
Maroon. They look much more red in certain lights.
None.
Curly, to a little past his shoulders. Usually up in a messy bun with hair falling out of it because he's lazy, or a braid if he really isn't feeling it.
Ink black.
6'2"
143 lbs.
Bisexual.
Old books, soft clothes, being in control, the gardens, painting, Tynu-rusi tea, swimming.
People sneaking up on him, feeling weak, people abusing their power, being at the mercy of others, dreams.
He can't see the right side of his body very well. His legs ache if he's been standing for too long. If he talks for too long, his throat starts to hurt.
He's very jumpy and does not do well with people sneaking up on him. If they do, he'll respond with aggression before externally calming down. But his heart will continue to beat very fast for a couple more minutes after the event.
He's tired, most of all. Emotionally and physically tired, almost all the time. He keeps his emotions under wraps at all times and generally wears a neutral expression on his face. He's very kind and cares deeply about his people. He would do anything to keep them safe, even if it means putting himself in danger. He's pretty selfless and has a bad tendency to self-sacrifice, which comes from his belief that overall, his life is less important than that of others. He has a very thick face and doesn't really care about being embarrassed personally.
He enjoys painting and reading. He also likes researching old types of magic.
He's very good at death glares. Quite good at magic, as well. A very strong swimmer, and a very good survivalist. Can more than hold his own in a fight.
Very much against the previous royal family. Anyone and anything that has to do with them is bad.
He is very sharp and cold with people he doesn't approve of. He doesn't think of himself as worthy.
Keep Opria in the hands of the Gealei.
He generally seeks to sit down when he can. His voice is rather scratchy. He doesn't like going to sleep, as he often has nightmares, so he walks around a lot at night. He usually looks tired. Left-handed.
He usually speaks bluntly but softly. His voice is rather rough and deep. He doesn't use any flowery language or anything like that.
"I'm Kuno."
He grew up in a small town completely under the control of the old royals. Life wasn't very good, and he had to work 6 days out of the week in the fields. The seventh day was a rest day, at least for the children, because that was when they went to school. "Children" were kids under 12 years old. After that, they did the full 7 days like the rest of the adults. Kuno's village specialized in rice, as did the other village in that area. Even as he passed the age of 12, he managed to find some time to learn, usually at night through old books. Talk of the resistance started when he was 14. Almost every single person over 14 joined, simply because the conditions were too horrible to bear anymore. Even death would be preferable. The village planned its own little revolution for about half a year, and then the official resistance arrived and organized everyone. They educated the people who hadn't gotten very much and taught them how to fight. They supplied weapons, materials, and hope. However, while Kuno was off at another village training, a group of soldiers came into the town, used the excuse that they hadn't given the royals enough tribute, and killed almost everyone there. Their true reason was that they suspected the village of rebellion. None of Kuno's family escaped, and he always blamed himself a little for not being there and protecting them. A few people managed to escape and told the revolution leaders, and Kuno's world was shattered. He was only 15 at the time. Thus, he vowed to destroy the royals to avenge his family and village. Kuno got the hang of the sword very quickly and soon became one of the best soldiers the resistance had seen. When the real fighting came, he proved himself again and again, and eventually caught the attention of the leader of the revolution, the new royals. He got promoted at the age of 17 and led the way to a few victories. Mostly, though, the war was locked in a stalemate. There was a huge battle when he was 19, and the soon-to-be queen was fighting in it under the guise of a regular soldier. The opposing general captured a bunch of the regular soldiers, including the soon-to-be-queen. Kuno managed to convince the opposing general to let them all go in return for him letting himself get captured, and saved the queen. The opposing general took him to the old royals, and they held him until the end of the war, two years later. They used all the methods they could, usually torture, to get him to tell them the secrets of the resistance, which he knew. He didn't tell them anything, however, no matter what they did. As a result of this year, his voice got damaged and he lost his right eye and the top knuckle of his ring, and pinkie finger on both hands. Even though all the pain, he still plotted to escape. When the new royals finally managed to get into the old royals' palace, he was able to escape and help them kill the old royals. Because of him, the new royals were able to stop the old royals from escaping. He was hailed a hero and given the best medical attention, but his voice never recovered. The new royals appointed him as a royal advisor, but he wasn't able to stand any of the clanging blades, so he insisted they put him as the royal librarian instead (because he would never let anyone know his weakness). A year later, the new royals had settled into their power nicely and decided that their new ward, the prince of the old royals, needed a mentor and bodyguard. He seemed like the best choice.
He got a pretty good education for his situation. Got educated a little more, usually on military stuff, when he joined the resistance.
