Turi is the only child of the Shadowhand family, but given the long lifespan of dwarves it is fairly common for the nobles to only have one child and produce another in the event something happens to the first.

For their part the Shadowhand family runs the thieves guild in Halberton, which also means they network with other guilds in other cities. Having a thieves guild around isn't as bad as some might think, as they keep other criminals in line and don't like competition. Saves the guards a lot of trouble sometimes when criminals are all but hand delivered trussed up and stripped of their goods because they got on the wrong side of the guild. Also they don't steal as much as the name implies, but rather keep to the shadows and learn how to use stealth to their advantage more than anything, though some thievery is bound to happen.

Turi eventually left her family, in love with a young human man. She was formally disowned for this, but that was fine by her as she bore twins by the man and lived happily until her parents passed a few years later. Being the only child of the house Turi returned to take up her rightful place, taking her husband and children with her back to Halberton to continue being a noble.
