Actually born to the elven capitol in Myrin, Dain was trained and raised as a warrior to help fight in the gladiatorial arena near Vamir. He served his time there, for a while, but eventually tired of that life and retired. He then traveled to the dwarven territory and the town of Lullin near the base of the mountains looking to settle down for a more peaceful life.

Finding that they had no proper town guard because they were so remote, however, didn't sit right with him. Dain always had a sense of honor, and he wanted to do right by the people where he intended to live so he went to Halberton and became a guardsman. After spending a few years working his way through the ranks he requested to be sent back to Lullin, offering to willingly serve as their town guard for as long as possible.

Having an elf in their ranks was strange enough, and having him request to go elsewhere even stranger, but in the end the guard captain agreed and Dain was allowed to return to the small town where he's served as their protector ever since.

When adventurers moved into the nearby mountains where the wizard Paul Clemond was working Dain kept an eye on them, but they proved to do more good than harm and he saw no reason to hassle them. When the large clan of tieflings moved in there were some problems at first, but Dain has managed to keep it in control and make sure everyone gets along just fine for now.
