The Farmhouse
Jo's Childhood Home, Now Haunted
Grand, modern built farmhouse.
1 – not haunted; space remains untouched and ordinary
2 – ignorable; activity is subtle and insignificant
3 – benign; activity does noticeably take place but is non-malevolent
4 – variable; activity often occurs and can fluctuate between harmless and aggressive
5 – malevolent; activity is guaranteed and encounters are meant to do harm
• Foyer – 3: shadewalker will move through the hallway but will not stop. Shade is often holding a knife; eyes unseen; won’t make eye contact; vanishes upon blinking/moving out of sight.
• Lounge – 2: curls of smoke will appear in the sunlight. The rocking chair will move on its own but not when watched.
• Den – 2: singing can be heard coming from upstairs in this location. The curtains will sometimes shift if there’s no breeze. Possibility for strange spots of temperature variation throughout the room.
• 1/2 bath – 1: voices/sounds may be heard coming from outside the room but don’t interact any further.
• Studio – 2: a woman’s voice humming from time to time.
• Guest room – 1: no activity within but footsteps from the stairs above can and will be noticeable
• Dining room – 1: the space remains relatively quiet but sometimes bleedover will happen, only incidentally
• Kitchen – 2: sometimes things move inside the cabinets when they’re closed. Any flowers placed near the windows live unnaturally long. Unless they’re roses, then they fade within just a day.
• Staircase – 4: the stairs are occupied by the transition, growing rage. The shade will walk up and down, knife in hand, footsteps quiet but the stairs creaking. It can also be seen lingering at the top of the stairs, sometimes surveying its surroundings, sometimes looking down the stairs to whoever’s looking back at it. Linger long enough and the sound of screaming sobs can be heard. The steps will drip blood, seemingly from nowhere, which vanishes if the viewer looks away.
• Jo's room – 3: more or less nothing happens but if Jo isn’t in the room, a visage of her younger self will sometimes appear, curled up by the corner, crying. She cannot be touched, she cannot interact with anyone present, her face is always hidden, turned away or covered.
• shared bathroom – 5: the faucets drip blood slowly into the bathtub if turned on. The sound of a very young child wailing can be heard as if travelling through the pipes in the walls. Lights go off and stay off for long periods of time. The shade has a propensity to grab inhabitants by the back of the neck and push them face-first into the bathtub. The bathtub will be full of murky water without anyone filling it and it won’t drain even if the plug is pulled. Persistent scent of mildew.
• Delilah's room – 5: The bed will often look like there’s fresh-spilled gouts of blood on it. The sound of fabric ripping is common. Lights will often go out and stay out for extended periods. Delilah’s voice singing will echo. The doors will slam and lock, particularly if someone enters alone. It’s difficult to breathe while in the room; people who enter and leave will often have red marks on their throat, around their wrists and scratches on their face. Delilah herself can be seen sometimes, her body is usually under the bed, her arm or foot sticking out, but will often vanish if someone sees and does a double-take. Though it’s also possible for Delilah to grab inhabitants and pull them down to the floor. Her throat bleeds freely, her mouth full of blood, and she reaches out in rage, fully intending to wrap her hands around the inhabitant’s throat and choke them until they’re incapacitated.
