The captain chuckled. "That's an overstatement."
“What’s that supposed to mean? Who the heck do you think you are talking to me like that!?”
"You are barely a squire, your not qualified to have a shortsword" the Captians chuckle soon grew to a hearty chortle
"Just you wait!" The squire roared, "I'll get that sword one way or another!"
Face red in embarrassment, the squire stormed out of the armory. Without a sword how would he avenge his slaughtered family?
The Captain watches with amusement the departure of the squire. Never in a million summers, squire.
the squire slowly walked back to his house in the woods. except he forgot that it had been burned down when they killed his family
He stared at the ashes with great longing. What was he to do now.
Suddenly, in the surrounding trees there was a rustling. "Hello?" the man called out, "who's there?"
a raspy voice answered him "a friend to be, if you want to avenge your family." "how?" he whispered in reply.
"Well, of course by making the ones that killed them suffer even worse." He responded.
"ok…" he answered unsure about it. "but you have to show me what you look like first."
The man was beautiful, simply put. And also two whole heads lengths shorter than him.
Beautiful was an understatement. His long, white hair flowed freely over his slightly crooked nose and sharp green eyes. His features were pointed, his chin, too, giving him a highly intelligent look.
“I see you stare,” He rasped in the voice that didn’t fit him.
"w-what are you?" the man asked. The other dude smirked, "why, a fae of course"
"what?, i thought they didn't exist" the man said in disbelief. "they were just a children's story.." the fae nodded and said "your people once traded and lived freely with us, but slowly you became more detached from the world of magic and we simply faded away to save you the troubles."
“Why?? We need you!”
The Fae sighed angrily. “Because you guys are f*ing lazy asholes.”
the man stared angrily and said in reply "first of all i don't even know your name, and second we are not the lazy ones you are the ones that disappeared." the fae shook his head and said "do you want my help or not? i will help you and tell you my name if in return you help me find something i lost years ago."
The fae clicked his tongue. “Follow me, then.” He turned heel and lead him through the dense forest.
the man stared in shock for a second then rushed after him calling "hey you didn't tell me your name yet." trying his best to keep up as the fae smoothly glided in between the tightly packed trees and dense underbrush.
“Yet? I plan not to,” The Fae responded with a chill in his raspy voice.
"well then i'll just call you twig." the man called after him. the fae scoffed in reply "really? that's all the better name you can come up with?"
The man grinned. "twig it is"
after they had walked through the woods for awhile the man asked "so twig, where exactly are we going?" "you'll see soon enough," twig answered "just be patient."
