Ugh, Voltron was such a mess. Like, they built up an entire empire of fans from all different backgrounds just by providing interesting stories and characters. Then, somehow, they managed to turn most of the fandom against them and each other by making some bad decisions.
I honestly miss the days when the fandom just made memes about Shiro choosing Keith to pilot Black. Now everything is about ships and discourse
Yeah… honestly after season 3-4, everything started going downhill.
i liked seasons 5 and 6 because lotor's such a great character
but i see what you're saying
i feel like they got too ambitious, maybe??
flew too close to the sun
They messed up a bunch on stuff. And I haven't fully watched the new season, but Lance turns???? Altean???? How do you turn into a different race???? Also, despite his dreams of being a fighter pilot that was said multiple times, they made him a lonely farmer. Also Matt was hot and they made him not as hot so that's also a thing.
oof lance's character "development" hurt me a lot
yeah honestly I could write a whole damn book on how voltron went wrong
I don't think it's possible to explain how much his development hurt. Like, he started off as a likeable, cocky guy with some confidence issues but ended up becoming this really soft, silent, supportive type. There's nothing wrong with this, of course, but it just made no sense to his character
Allura in the afterlife talking with some other ghosts: Yeah I had a boyfriend when I was a teenager but I died and he never found happiness again.
With Lance becoming a farmer, I do think that was for a reason. He did want to be a fighter pilot, but the trauma of being in the war with Voltron and losing Alura was probably too much for him.
I guess that makes sense but I still think Lance would’ve been active with life, like doing things for people not just farming until he died.
Lance deserved so much more than just becoming a passive farmer.
But why would you kill off one of your few interesting female leads like that? It may have had a purpose, sure, but her death ends up screwing with so many other points. Also, speaking of female characters in Voltron, why would you have the best-designed and most interesting cronies/death squad do absolutely jack-all in regards to the story?!
Then again, I'm arguing like I've seen the series. These are all piecemeal bits I've heard from other fans, so take everything I say with a side of salt.

No, you’re on the right track. Basically that’s what happened and it’s dumb and Dreamworks fired the show runners because they sucked.
Voltron.
(I wanna see this revived.)
No, when I say Vol you say Tron.
Vol?
I hate voles! They always ruin my vegetable garden!
Voltron AU where everything's the same except instead of lions, they just have huge mechanical voles.
Voltron AU where everything is the same except for seasons 4-8 are actually good
