In the story I'm working on, I have two characters that help the main characters at different parts during an arc towards the end of the story. One helps them get from one place to another and currently has a job kind of like a security guard mixed with a tour guide. The other is brought along by the MCs when visiting a character because of tradition and helps prevents a plot hole from happening by coming along. The 'arcs' that these characters show up in happen back to back, and the characters are needed in their respective arcs. I want the world to feel lived in and have many different kinds of people, the two characters are very different personality-wise at the moment, but at the same time, I'm trying to get rid of redundancies. I'm at the point in the process of writing where I cut out unnecessary things to the plot and streamline it. What do you think? I can give more information if needed.

I think that they sound just fine the way they are, just make sure that they aren't too similar personality-wise and such. So long as they are their own people in their own right, and actually help propel the story, I don't think there's a real reason to cut them out. Of course, that's my opinion, and others might feel differently. In any case, I hope I helped
