@gracehustle

Felix slipped the hoodie back on, scooping up his weapons and slinging them back over his shoulder. He couldn't help but laugh at Tempest falling out of the tree, though he did walk over and offer a hand out to help him up. "Can we get something to eat before we go back to that house?" He asked, looking around at the other two and them up into the tree for Ember's input, "I think we all could use the food."

@Hybrid-Is-tired

Ember dropped down from the tree, landing on her feet "Yes that's a good idea. Let's see what's around here." Ember said as she dusted her tank top off. Tempest took Felix's hand and was helped back up. "I'm gonna assume that this universe has regular restaurants. What do you guys say? Burgers?"

@gracehustle

Cossett and Felix looked between each other and nodded. "Burgers sound good, will they let us bring our weapons into the restaurant?" Felix asked, holding on to his gun tighter as his stomach growled. If not, then they were going to be very vulnerable, and he hoped that wasn't the case.

@Hybrid-Is-tired

"We can store the larger things again but keep out the small things we have. Ember and I enchanted our main weapons to look like necklaces but we can just hide the smaller things. Keep them in the hoodie pockets and they'll come back out only when you guys need them." Tempest explained as he plucked the larger weapons away and stuffed them back in the 'invisible locker' of his.

@gracehustle

(I'm so sorry it's taking me so long to respond, life has gotten crazy lately, with track and finals, I promise I'll try to be more consistent after friday (That's when finals are))

"Do we just 'wish' them back? Like you did with the money?" Felix asked, reluctantly handing over his larger weapons after stuffing away his gun in the hoodie. Cossett didn't bother handing over anything besides her large blade, figuring all of the other knives would easily hide away in her own hoodie.

@Hybrid-Is-tired

(it's alright I know life is busy. Don't worry about my friend)

"Exactly. See? You're getting into the magic mindset now." Tempest chuckled a bit while Ember rolled her eyes "Let's just eat, I'm getting a little hangry."
So Tempest led the little group out of the woods and down the side walk out of the neighborhood. "There seems to be a Wendy's not far ahead."

What maybe noticed by this point is that The kind of book Tempest and Ember come from is a looser more laid back story. Yes it had a civil rights message within the book but it fell into a modern fantasy type. Joshua, the young man know wrote the two two in progress books would write this when he was in a relaxed laid back mood. There was a clear antagonist that was a little cliche: a lord of shadows. But no one knows what's gonna happen when they realize that they are nothing more than book characters.

After they walked through the doors of the restaurant Tempest gave them all ten bucks each. "Alright guys here's the budget."

@gracehustle

Where as Tempest and Ember may have been used to things like the Wendy's, this was new territory for Cossett and Felix. They tried to hide their confusion and curiosity though as they walked in, eyes scanning everything in a reflex move before they even let themselves relax their guard slightly. "What kind of food do they have here?" Felix asked, the question directed at both of them and not just one person in particular.

@Hybrid-Is-tired

"Burgers, fries, soft serve ice cream…stuff like that." Tempest told the two of them as they walked in
"Eating this stuff all the time isn't good for you but every now and then isn't too bad." Ember added as they waited in line to order
"I have been craving root beer, so I hope this location has some."

@gracehustle

Cossett nodded, whereas Felix wore a confused look as he looked up at the menu and tried to read everything they served. They both looked slightly curious though, following the others lead and getting into line to order. "What are you getting?" She asked.
Felix shrugged, messing with the money in his hand and listing off what he wanted to get, "I want to try the fries, and one of the burgers."

@Hybrid-Is-tired

"What are they new to the country or somethin'?" an older man said in front of them

"Distant friends. They were our pen pals that we invited to the country after my brother and I saved enough money." Ember said, the lie smoothly rolling off her tongue as they neared the front of the line. "Right Temp."
"Frosty frosty fr-eh oh…yeah she's right."

@gracehustle

The two of them nodded, immediately playing the part and going with the lie. Felix fiddled with the money some more and shuffled forward in line as people ordered. "This place is very exciting." Cossett said, going with the act and nodding again while adding a very light almost Irish accent, "So many different choices..how do you choose?"

@Hybrid-Is-tired

(sorry this didn't show in my feed!!)

Tempest smiled warmly and Ember's smile was a crooked smirk as they neared the front "Hello welcome to Wendy's what can I get you today?" the man taking their order asked. Tempest and Ember ordered their food and stood to the side to let the other two order

@gracehustle

(That's ok!)
Cossett and Felix paid close attention to how the other two ordered, before copying what they did but with their own choices. Both seemed quite proud when they joined them by the side, even with messing up slightly on the names and trying to act like they fit in. "Now we wait for the food to be ready, right?" Felix asked, messing with his receipt and rocking back on his heels.

@Hybrid-Is-tired

"yep! You guys can wait at an open table and we'll bring over the food." Tempest offered with a smile as they went over to the fountain drink dispenser to fill up their drink orders

@gracehustle

They nodded, first following them and filling up their own cups with the new choices of drink before searching for a table big enough to seat all of them. Felix spotted one in the back and they slipped onto two of the seats, starting to talk quietly to each other as they waited for their food.

@Hybrid-Is-tired

"Hey at least were're in the right time period." Tempest chuckled as he filled his cup up with fanta.
"Yeah but sadly no magic beings so…this place is kinda boring." Ember responded
"We should probably go back in the home to investigate." Tempest responded as their name was called. The both got the four separate orders and came back to the table

@gracehustle

When they came back the two were still talking, sipping cautiously at the drinks and comparing things they had noticed were similar to where they were from. "The people look the same though, and the houses are very similar," Felix said, drumming his fingers on the table and pausing his sentence when they came with the food. "Thanks," He said instead, listening to his stomach grumble almost as soon as he set eyes on the food on the tray.

@Hybrid-Is-tired

Tempest and Ember immediately started to dig in. "mmm this universe still has good fast food." Tempest said through a bit of burger. Ember nodded in agreement and munched on some fries

@gracehustle

Cossett nodded, taking her food and hesitantly trying a fry. Her eyes widened and she smiled, nodding in agreement before digging into her food. "This food is so much better than what we're used to Felix." She assured, sliding a fry to her more hesitant companion, "Try it."
Felix nodded, taking the fry and popping it into his mouth, nodding as well. "These are amazing," He said, sliding his food over and giving her a fry in return before calming his rumbling stomach and digging into his food, "Is all food this good here?" He asked, having the manners to talk between bites.

@Hybrid-Is-tired

"If it's like what we're used to then yes I believe so." Ember responded. Tempest on the other hand was fiddling with a touch screen device he pulled from his pocket out with his free hand. He sent a shock through it and it started to work once more. It turned out to be nothing more than an upgraded cell phone "Messages aren't going through." he mumbled in a worried tone

@gracehustle

Felix nodded, keeping a mental note of the fact before tuning out everyone else and chowing down. His leg bounced against the floor as he ate though, naturally on higher alert thanks to being used to people trying to attack when he was eating.
"Is that bad?" Cossett asked, already done with her own food. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a coin-like object, flicking it and watching it spin on the table. It was no bigger than a quarter and about the same thickness, but when it stopped spinning on the table, tiny engravings were visible, scrolling words and designs in circles around the objects edge and repeating circles going in towards the center.

@Hybrid-Is-tired

Tempest gave a little sigh "Well I would like to know if my friends are alright" He then looked to the coin-like object "Pretty impressive…what's it's function?"
Ember on the other hand leaned back in her seat and sipped on her soda, already finished with her food as well

@gracehustle

Cossett smiled and slid the disc to him, "I'll let you try to figure that out." The coin-like medallion had two functions, one as a key for a box back in their universe and also as a tiny weapon. It wasn't lethal at all but could be used for a distraction when the sharp blades were popped out of the sides and it was thrown at someone.

@Hybrid-Is-tired

Tempest fiddled around with it and pretty quickly discovered the blades. Tempest smiled and told them "Neat but I can improve it's functionality if you wish." He looked up to Cossett for when he was working on something was when he was happiest. "Does it come back to you if you throw it?"

@gracehustle

Cossett looked intrigued at his offer, tipping her head to the side curiously. "It doesn't, no." She said, wondering what he was going to do to it to improve how it worked. As long as he didn't make it do anything crazy, she did still need it to work as a key.
Felix just let out a silent sigh as Cossett's attention was turned to Tempest and settled into his chair, knowing that talking with Cossett about anything technology related was a surefire way to waste hours of time. He wasn't going to mention that though, knowing that it wouldn't stop her from ignoring his warning and talking away anyway.
