"No." Cash grips his bat with sweaty hands. The growling sends chills down his spines, and he wishes he could just 'pause' and take a breather before confronting the thing. He almost wishes whatever it was would show itself; it'd be better than just hearing it and not knowing where it is.
(If the others update, we can do a small time jump.)
Zoe looked down and saw both her guns on the floor of the cave and looked up and saw her body wrapped in webs. She didn't dare to make any noise although it felt her head was about to explode. Zoe could barely grasp a dagger that was hidden in her pants, hoping it would not alert any of the monsters/creatures.
Peyton had been following Pollux and Cash in fear for her life. It didn't feel safe alone in the wilderness. She was on edge jumping at every little noise.
(Have we all met Peyton before? I can't recall if our characters all met her or not.)
(I know those two have, but not the others.)
(Okay, thank you.)
"You okay?" Cash asks Peyton, his concern masking his fear.
Peyton nodded swiftly and said with a slight laugh, "As best as I can during the apocalypse."
Cash grins at her dry humor. Speaking of dry…..with another look at their surroundings, Cash leans his bat against his leg and slips his backpack off of his shoulder, rummaging through it until he finds a water bottle.
"Here, catch." He tosses it to Peyton. He pulls out another and hands it to Pollux. Their water is precious, but they need something to steady them.
Peyton caught the water bottle with a slight grin glad that he was willing to share water. She opened the bottle and took a small sip before saying to Cash, "Thanks."
Cash nods a welcome, pulling out his bottle from before. He keeps himself from completely finishing off the water in the bottle, but, man, it's hard.
"We're going to need to go after whatever took Zoe." He states it, instead of asking a question. He doesn't like taking the lead, but what with Pollux recovering and slightly out of it with fear, Cash, for some reason, feels the responsibility of leading the others fall on his shoulders.
Zoe grunted softly as she managed to cut the webbing the held up and dropped to the dirt floor in a thud. She groaned as she got up and shook the dust from her and heard some clicking nearby. Quickly, she grabbed the guns and checked the ammo. It wasn't enough to get her out alive. Her options weren't a lot as Zoe slowly creep towards the sound. She planned to get out of here alive.
Peyton let out a small sigh as she put away the half empty water bottle. She looked back up to Cash and nodded. She racked her head as to what could've taken her.
"I'm guessing….I mean, it….." Cash starts again, trying to answer one of the many questions shared by all. "It could've been something Infected. But….that thing wasn't human."
Peyton thought for a second and gave another quick nod, "It definitely wasn't. If it was it's far gone. Though I doubt it was."
Cash nods. "I think it was pretty big. And fast. She," he says, meaning Zoe, "Was there and then she was gone."
Peyton put her finger on her lip in concentration. She was seriously curious as to what took that girl, "Maybe it was some sort of giant bug. bugs are fast right?"
Cash holds back a shiver. "Man, I hope not. But…." He nods. "Yeah, that makes sense."
Peyton looked around and let out a small sigh, "We should go after it so we increase our chances of finding the creature. Bug. Thing."
"I know." Says Cash, but he makes no move. Selfishly, he's torn between his fear and Zoe's life. He makes himself stand, slinging his backpack over his shoulder and grabbing his bat. "Let's go."
After stumbling through tunnels, there was no sight of any of the monstrosities in the caves and that made her very uneasy as she peeked her head around the corner and saw the exit, but there were about 5 of the creatures guarding it. They made no movements and Zoe had a feeling she was being watched, she quickly looked back behind her to see nothing there before a drop of liquid dropped onto her hair. She slowly looked up. Crap.
Pollux stood up, clutching his axe. "Alright, I guess we don't have much choice at this point." He followed Cash.
Peyton held the gun in shaky hands, but followed after Cash. What else could she do but trust him?
"Um, what were you guys saying about bugs? Do bugs growl now? Is that a thing they do?" Pollux asked, hoping this wasn't the case.
(Idk how to enter Harley)
