(I’m
I’m going to pretend that Chelsea was quietly following them.
Which is very un-Chelsea like, but-)
“What happens if you use another door?” Chelsea asked, “Where do the other doors lead? What if one of them leads you to the back of the Queen’s castle or something??”
Scarlet followed tentatively, electing to stay silent. A part of her couldn’t wait to see the Hatter and Hattress, the other was nervous.
The Hatter popped his head out of the next room. "Friends?" He said, his red hair bouncing up and down. "Yep!" Nykidia said smiling.
Scarlet stared at the local legend standing in front of her for a few seconds, before swallowing and stepping forwards. “Hi, sir. I’m- I’m Scarlet.”
The Hatter stumbled over some hats making his way to the front door. He was very tall. Almost 6'4. "Hello there Scarlet. Pleased to meet you." He said bowing. "I am the Mad Hatter." "Dad. This is Scarlet, daughter of the queen of hearts, Cade, and Cheslea." Nykidia said pointing at them "And Phoebe tagged along as well."
“H-Hi.”, Scarlet, stammered, dropping into a curtsy out of habit.
The Mad Hatter really didn't need to know my name. Cade thought. Let's just hope he's not really mad as his title entails…
The Mad Hatter flinched at 'the queen of hearts' bit. "Don't worry. She ran away to get away for her mom." Nykidia tried to explain. "O-Oh OK." "We need to help her hide. Do you know where the brown hair dye is?" "Uuummmm I believe it is underneath the kitchen sink."
Scarlet shifted awkwardly, noticing the Hatter flinch. She wondered if she should leave them alone, she was jeopardizing their safety.
"Thanks!" She said grabbing Scarlet's hand and pulling her to the kitchen, grabbing the bleach and brown hair dye and heading to the bathroom.
Cade stood outside for a few seconds, then wandered in after Nykidia and the princess.
Scarlet followed Nykidia, wincing as her injured arm brushed the wall. I should clean it.. it could get infected..
Cade saw the princess wince, drawing his attention to her injured arm. I should probably appologize…but I don't want them to think I'm a softie or anything. Then again, I do need to stay on their good side for now… He sighed. "Hey, sorry about your arm."
Scarlet’s eyes flicked to his for a moment, before she looked away. “It’s not a huge gash, it’ll heal,” she said simply.
"Hey, I actually appologized. You should be basking in the rarity of this moment." Cade joked.
Scarlet raised an eyebrow, allowing herself a small smile. “You also said that I deserved to be cut, so… I have mixed feelings, Mystery Boy.”
Wow, she has a really good memory. Maybe getting her on my good side will be a lot more difficult than I thought. Cade shook his head, trying to look sympathetic. "Listen, I was still in a lot of shock after your friend's weird illusion mishap. I appologize for saying that."
Scarlet raised her other eyebrow, debating whether or not to trust him yet. “Tell me your real name, then I might believe you. And I can usually tell if you’re lying.”
S**t. She sure is persistent, I'll give her that. He sighed, knowing he would dread giving her a real answer. "My name is Cade. Don't make me regret telling you that."
Her grin was wicked. “Cade? I’ll remember that.” Scarlet flicked a strand of hair out of her eyes, turning away again.
