Lia interrupted suddenly, "So wizards and witches they manipulate magic, so they need a source, could they possibly siphon magic away from another being perhaps?" She asked, her blue eye's sparkling at the possibility of answers.

'Uhmm… hang on, let me think…' Moxie pondered a little bit. Duchess wasn't sure herself, but that sounded particularly familiar.

'I remember a time where my master actually made a potion to decrease or… actually turn away evil curses or something, I don't really remember that well… but he gave it to a prisoner goblin who was said to be cursed with evil, and the goblin… suddenly turned human, I believe? And I don't know if it was originally a goblin or human, but maybe that should help?'

Moxie shook her head. 'That sounds more like a transformation potion then anything else. Then again, if that goblin form WAS the curse…'

"Y-you, uh…" Riverpaw stopped herself; she had been taught that you shouldn't take magic or energy of any form from other beings but, again, she couldn't speak up. She did find Duchess' goblin - she had no idea what that was - story interesting, though.

'Well, I believe it would be impossible for it to be a decrease of magic. Magic can be suppressed, and that's how you get rid of curses, but it can never fully go away. It's like this weird thing some smart people call alchemy or something, nothing can be completely destroyed or what not.' She was explaining this mostly to everyone listening, and at this point she wondered if she actually knew more about magic then everyone else. Duchess herself still wasn't sure whether these creatures were completely harmless, especially that gypsy cat that one of them talked about. She decided to put in her own knowledge.

'There's light magic and dark magic. My master does light, Moxie's does dark, and often it goes hand-in-hand with good and evil, although witch or wizard can use either kind.'

“Actually…” Sofie interrupted suddenly, “There are thirteen types of magic. You do know that right? I’m not sure I could name them all, but I know for sure that there are thirteen. But, you are right about magic not ever going away. It’s inside of us and everything around us. Only certain things or animals are able to manipulate it or take that magical energy and use it. Honestly though, if you can use magic, I’d be thoroughly impressed. I only know a handful of creatures who can use magic and that’s only because… well… that’s a story for another time…” Sofie trailed off, realizing she probably should stop talking about magic. She could get carried away.

“Anyways.. You wanted to hear about my necklace? It’s a long story so if you’re in for that then grab some popcorn or something and get prepared.” Sofie gave a nervous laugh and sat down, keeping Riverpaw close to her.

Moxie looked confused. She never heard about THIRTEEN kinds of magic, her world only ever consisted of two, and as far as she knew… oh wait, no, the wolf was right about the animal thing, only certain specially trained animals could manipulate magic, there's a whole school just to train them. She shook off these thoughts, for she wanted to listen to the story.

'My, of course, we wish to hear' replied Duchess, 'and I would happily have some popcorn, but I'm afraid we don't have any on us…'

'What on Earth is popcorn?'

'Corn that's popped, of course!'

'What? Corn? Like, corn with ears and stuff? How do you pop it? Magic? Also, I hate vegetables, why can't we have some carcass instead?'

'We have no carcass, my dear.'

'Oh yeah… oh man, I'm starving. We can use magical ingredients to make food with sometimes special effects, but it's easier just to kill a bird and let it sit unless it's all nice and rich in flavour.' Duchess tried not to puke. She and Moxie did not have the same taste in food, obviously. 'Oh, sorry dear, I know you only like fresh stuff. Probably smothered in weird solidified goats milk or something.'

'Cheese, my dear.'

Sofie felt like throwing up for a moment, but she suppressed a gag and started her story, “Um, okay, so…. this necklace,” Sofie carefully pulled the necklace over her head and let the other examine it, “Was given to me by my mate. It was passed down in his family to each Chieftess for centuries. I never really knew anything about this necklace and it’s special qualities for a long time. Then, one day, in the middle of a battle, my opponent threw something at me. It was a crystal. Same exact shape as this one, just a different color. It hit me, pushing me into my mate and suddenly we were falling from the sky. The crystal had taken us to another planet. That’s when I realized what the crystal on my necklace could do. So I guess really this is more of a story about crystals but, you know what, it means I won’t have to explain anything later,” Sofie took a moment to breath before continuing, “Crystals were made thousands of years ago by the most powerful nine-tailed kitsunes. They were made so that their ancestors could easily travel between worlds. There is a twist to these crystals though: there is a special way to activate them and make them work. For example, the crystal Bones threw at me had to be… thrown. And this crystal here has to have magic put into it for it to work. (You know what I just realized… Sofie had lost her necklace and was trying to find it… lets just say she found it 😂) There are hundred of crystals, three for every world. Each one looks different and has a different key or way to activate it. So…. yeah.”

'My goodness….' Both Duchess and Moxie were rather enthralled, and they didn't have much to say. Duchess tried anyway.

'Do… do you know how to activate your necklace? Or what power it has? It all seems so… wow, rather amazing… I'd LOVE to have a necklace like that, just imagine it, Moxie dear.'

@SofieTheWolf group

“Oh, well yes, you have to put magic into it to make it activate. Crystals like these don’t just happen to plop into your hands… They were hidden so that forces of evil could not use them. The kitsunes felt that the activation wasn’t enough.” Sofie paused for a moment and turned to Dk, “Deathman’s right though, we should move on. I don’t know anything about this forest. And maybe-“ Sofie’s voice was cut off.

“I’m coming too, right?” Helios interjected with a impish smile on her face.

Lia Glared at the floating Nymph before inserting herself into the conversation, "Might I remind you that none of us know where a good place to bed down for the night is?"

"Um," Riverpaw spoke up quietly, "i-if we can find a cave or s-something like that, would that work?" She only asked because she was used to sleeping in grass dens and nests back home, but she had no idea how the rest of this odd group usually sheltered.

Deleted user

(what the heck, where did my reply go?)

'Well, there may not be any caves we could see,' stated Moxie, 'but usually the hole of a tree works quite well. And we could always make some grass dens, for I don't fully believe we're in danger in this forest. If you're not sure, maybe I could go search for a den?'

'Moxie is REALLY good at finding dens, she's an alley cat, you know.' Duchess purred for Moxie, and laid down knowing well Moxie would search soon, for nothing else, then just a den the two of them could sleep in.
