Marlowe pulled on a scarf as she walked out of the house. Sarah had asked her to get some vegetables for dinner (after a three hour lecture that was comprised of screaming and yelling) The weird floating thing hadn't happened since last night and she was relieved.
Ferran stared out the window as the teacher droned on, his hand resting on his arms on the table. I wonder how she's doing….
The corner grocery store was small and it smelled like cheap wine and cigarettes, but damn! They had the best prices in the whole city. Marlowe wandered through the aisles, sniffing tomatoes and carrots and other veggies, when an alarm sounded. Is the building on fire?
"This is a hold-up! Give me your cash and your life will be spared!"
Ferran closed his eyes. She probably hates me.
Marlowe hid behind one of the aisles, heart racing, as she dialed 911. The cereal boxes next to started to float. No, no, no, no, not now. She grabbed onto the shelves, her feet lifting off the ground as she caught a glimpse of the robber. Black mask, so cliche. His gun was floating in the air and so was he, his hand reaching out in a desperate attempt to grab it.
Not before I do, you punk. Marlowe pushed off of the shelf and held onto the gun, a burst of adrenaline flooding her system, holding it tight in her arms as the distant sound of police sirens came closer. They didn't see my face, did they?
She fell to the ground abruptly, the robber falling too, fear practically oozing off of him. Marlowe held a cereal box in front of her face and held the gun out.
"In the name of the law, put your hands above your head and get on the ground until the police come to apprehend you." Idon'tknowwhatI'mdoingIdon'tknowwhatI'mdoingIdon'tknowwhatI'mdoing.
Marlowe watched him drop to the ground, the store owner and register-person sighing in relief as another person filmed the whole thing with their phone. She ran out of the shop, bag of unpaid vegetables in hand and cereal box still covering her face.
Marlowe stayed by the store, watching as the police came to get him and reporters swarmed the area, buzzing with excitement. It happened again. This is real. Whatever this is, it's real. What happened to me?
(Wow sorry to abandon you again)
(nah man)
She ran back home and set out the vegetables, trying not to seem as shaken as she was.
(HEY I'M BACK)
(Hey!)
(Aaaayyy! NERD!)
