Ferran peered out at the dance floor. "Where's Mar? I don't see her."
Daveed frowned. "Me neither. Maybe she wandered off?"
"Oh great that's just like her." Ferran groaned. "I better go find her."

"Oh, he doesn't have to know." Ashley smelled like beer and drugs, the ultimate frat boy.
Marlowe slowly backed away. "I'm gonna head back to the party now."
"You're not going anywhere." He grabbed her hand and she jerked it away, falling back towards the railing of the walkways, high above the rest of the party. A vat of bubbling chemicals sat below them. It was supposed to be cleaned out.
"Marli? MAAARRRRRLIIIIII!!!" Ferran called. "Okay this isn't funny anymore I'm worried. Please come out."
There was nowhere left to go. Marlowe vaulted over the rail, trying not to look down, slowly walking towards the end. Ashley was apoplectic, pushing the rails up and down, trying to get her to fall off. Every time she stumbled was like a nightmare. Distant shouts of her name reached her ear, "Ferran! I'm right here! I need help!"
Ashley gave one more shove and Marlowe's feet slipped. She desperately held onto the rails with her hands, wishing that she wasn't as weak as she was. I need to take more cardio.
Ferran looked up. "MAR WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" He looked around. "I'll find the stairs!"
I need to pull myself up. Stupid Ashley. Stupid party. Marlowe's weak noodle arms felt like death had come early for them. Her fingers were starting to slip off. She was holding on with one hand now.
Ferran gasped and bolted up the nearest stairwell. He dashed out onto the platform and crouched down. "Reach!"
Marlowe reached her hand out, but always came short a few inches. The chemicals under her were starting to make her nauseated and weak. Her final hand was beginning to slip. She fell feet-first into the solution. The sound of screaming entered her ears as she fell, until she realized it was her screaming.
"MARLI!" Ferran screeched. He stumbled down the stairs and down to the chemicals.
The chemicals consumed her and the sound of police cars came to her. Someone called the police. Now I'm totally getting busted. God, Sarah's gonna kill me and then kill me again. Something about herself felt wrong. Like her body was changing on a microscopic level. Is my face deformed? Am I radioactive?
Ferran waited anxiously as the police worked at fishing her out of the solution. "Please be okay please be okay please please please."
She was not okay. They transported her to the hospital and sealed her in a safe room, with the doctors wearing hazmat suits.
Ferran paced back and forth in the waiting room. Daveed watched him, slurping his slushie. "Calm down Ferry boat. She'll be fine!"
"No she won't Dav. The had hazmats."
A doctor came out, old and bespectacled. "Do you know where her legal guardian is?"
"Uh….she's at home I think. Asleep." Ferran wrung his hands. "Is she okay?"
"She's fine. That's the weird part. The chemicals had no effect on her, it was like saving someone who merely almost drowned in water." The man adjusted his glasses. "We'll be keeping her here until her legal guardian comes to sign her out."
Ferran nodded. "Can….can I see her?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because you can't."
"Why?!"
The doctor scoffed and shuffled away.
Ferran stared at him. "He didn't answer me."
Daveed patted his shoulder. "She's fine. He's just a jerk."
Marlowe woke up to shouting. Sarah's shouting. Oh crap. She stared at her aunt from her hospital bed and bit her lip. "Hey."
"Marlowe Juniper Cosima Frank. We're going to have a word about this tomorrow."
Ferran covered his ears. Lordy can that woman shout any louder?
