“Halo,” Ojag started, taking a quiet, warry, step forward. He, as a medic, had seen many people lose loved ones. He knew it would hurt, but he also knew it would be better coming from his mouth than out of someone unfamiliar. Ojag held out a hand and spoke the hard truth, “Halo, he is- he is dead.”
Halo's eyes widen. He recognized that voice. He looks up weakly, sniffing and crying. "Ojag…" He whispers softly, shaking and trembling. "N-no… please don't say that… He can't be… he can't be dead." More and more lines run down his hair, and he felt suddenly weak.
“Halo,” Ojag took a breath, kneeling beside Halo and the body. He reached out and closed the captain’s eyes as he said quietly, “I’m very sorry, Halo.” The truth was so hard… Ojag genuinely didn’t want John to be dead, he wanted Halo and the captain to be able to live with each other, away from the war and generals and people who wanted to split them apart.
Halo cries harder, shaking his head. "No! No! He can't be gone!" He cries. He felt something snap. "I'll kill her… I'LL KILL HER!" He roars, "I don't care how long it takes. I'll avenge him." He growls. "Before I die I must kill her first." He gently sets John's body down, setting gentle kiss on his lips and stands. "She'll pay." He looks up, red glinting in his crystal orbs. "She'll burn in hell for what she's done."
Ojag jumped up, placing himself in front of Halo with his hands up, “Halo- It’s okay, calm down,” The angel must be talking about the general, the only missing party, “I know it hurts now, Halo, but you’re making a mistake. John wouldn’t have wanted this.” Gosh… the pain that this angel had gone through…
Halo looks at the other, his eyes full crimson. He wasn't a fallen anymore, he was a rising demon. If they wanted a demon, that's what they would get. "Stay out of my way." He growls. "I'm avenging his death. I won't hesitate for anyone." He hisses, plucking two feathers that elongate into daggers.
Ojag forced himself to stay put, “Halo, this is a bad decision. The general has a family back at home, I’m sure, and she’s another human being.” He squared his shoulders, swallowing a breath. I can’t let this happen…
"And did she not think about facing her crime? I think not." he replies, glaring at the other before swiftly walking out of the tent. His wings were stained black now, his eyes crimson. He smirks, smelling her scent. She was still close.
The general hurriedly walked to her tent, ordering a younger soldier, “Clean up tent seven in the medic section,” The guy started walking, unknowing to all that had happened. The general sighed, sitting down in her office. Twenty four years old. She sighed again, murmuring to herself that famous quote, “In times of peace, sons bury their fathers. In times of war, fathers bury their sons…” Out of self defense, she told herself again.
The camp was in chaos as Halo walked through the camp, nothing getting in his way. He opens the tent flaps to the generals tent. "You really wanted a monster didn't you." He growls, walking towards her. Baring his teeth as he stares at her with the wrath of hell in his eyes.
The general nearly fell out of her seat scrambling back. She reached for a sword that wasn’t there- she had left it near John’s body. The general took a few steps back as she paled, holding up her hands, “Please, stop, the Senate will charge you with treason and-“ She tensed up when she walked into the edge of the tent- the end of the line.
Halo smirks, "Really? Treason? For a demon?" He asks innocently. "Last I checked general…" He spits the name out like it was poison. "I was not part of your ranks. What do you think? A life for a life? An blood stained for an innocent. A soul for a soul?" He asks. "You had no right to kill him. He was an innocent man. A man I loved with no regrets and you took him from me." He hisses, walking forward.
The general had the audacity to glare at Halo, “This isn’t Hammurabi’s Code, John was threatening me, it was out of self defense! I have the right to protect myself.” Just put up a mask, he’ll back down, they always do.
"Sure. Sure." He waves her off. "Explain that to Satan when he greets you at the depths of Hell." He growls, staring her down with fierce crimson eyes, daring her to fight back. He wanted her to fight back, so he could watch her scream in pain, so that she could feel the pain fueling him now.
The general snarled, “Demons belong in hell. You are a demon, you are cornering me in my own office for no reason whatsoever!” The last part was so exaggerated, the general wasn’t even unsure that she’d actually said it.
"Maybe it's the fact that you killed the man I cared about." He replies. "And technically I was an angel before you killed the man I cared about." He growls. "You disgust me." he hisses, shaking his head, his crimson eyes glaring at her coldly. "And if I go back to hell, so be it. At least you'll be dead."
“If you go to hell, you won’t see John ever again. If you kill her, you won’t make it to heaven. And I can be sure John made it to heaven,” And there was Ojag, standing at the door with hopeless eyes looking at Halo. I need to stop this, there shouldn’t be anymore death today.
Halo's crimson gaze turns on Ojag, glaring at him. "Why should I believe you." He growls. "You've seen what she's done. She's sent hundreds of men to their grave, and she kills an innocent! She killed John with no fair reason! He was protecting me." He growls. "She needs to face trial!"
Ojag took a step back, but forced himself to hold his ground after that. He took a breath, “Halo, she will face trial. But if you kill her now, it will bring a whole world of bad. Let her go. Her sword is at the scene of the crime, they will find out it’s her. She’ll be put on trial, Halo,” He repeater for emphasis, praying for some reason to be brought back into the fallen angel.
"Fine." He growls, placing his daggers to his side. "But I want to be the one to run her through when she's announced to the gallows." he growls. He shoots a glare at the woman. "Run and I will not hesitate to bring an early end to the trial. Do not doubt the hell I can bring you, mortal." He hisses.
Ojag released a heavy breath, while the general’s shoulders sagged. Ojag looked to Halo, “You made the right decision.” It wasn’t long before men were running through camp. The captain had been killed and John! John, he’s- he’s dead! we’re some of the common phrases shouted out. It was evident that the captain had befriended many of the soldiers, at least enough for them to call him by his name instead of title. A group of people were already approaching the general’s tent, carrying a bloodied sword.
Halo watches with dark eyes, his black wings fluttering. His pitch black wings flutter as he watches the group, biting his lip as he tried his hardest not to cry. He loved John so much and he was gone because of her. His heart hurt.
Ojag took the time to explain the situation, vouching for Halo. The general admitted her crime, and thankfully the group didn’t try and harm Halo. Maybe they were afraid, which they should be -when the angel was at this state of mind.
Halo watches the interaction, his eyes gazing at the dagger with anger and pain. He hated that thing. He didn't want to see it. He hated it. "I'll be waiting until after the trial." He growls walking past the crowd. "I'll be the one to avenge John." He says angrily.
Ojag was about to follow, but stopped himself. Hopefully Halo wouldn’t be fine on his own, and he needed the alone time. The general was taken away, shackles on her wrists. No one seemed to notice how Ojag was technically a prisoner of the war, but why would they focus on him when the captain had just died? He sighed and walked out of the tent, going to find a use for himself.
