Evan notices the hesitation but pays no mind to it, brushing it off. "Alright then, i hope they like me." he chuckled light-heartedly, tuna moving to rest at Evans feet.

Jesse huffs, a scowl on her face. She crosses her arms "vatever. I've gotta get zat kid before he can get avay. You're velcome for saving your life by ze vay" she says turning around to head out of the doorway.
A part of Jesse wanted Elodie to stop her from leaving and stay by her side… but she knew she wouldn't. Jesse knew she wouldn't take it this well but in Jesse's mind she was protecting her. Things like that happened all the time in her life.. sacrifices were Jesse's only choices in life. She never had any other kind of choices. Hurt people to save them.. it was counterproductive but that was her life. The only person special enough for Jesse to do that for was her girlfriend yet she still did this for Elodie.
It annoyed her that Elodie didn't see it. But she couldn't do much of anything to help.
A part of Jesse thought this was best. If Elodie hated her and pushed her away, she'd be better off without Jesse to protect her right?
(She hasn't left the room yet btw)

Jez looks Evan up and down before clearing his throat, though ended up coughing instead.
He takes a breath and stands, his legs wobbly. "They will don't worry. We've seen worse come in and Gus still loves them" he says, looking down and smiling at the small thought of Gus's kindness.
Shaking it away quickly, he looks back up to Evan. "Gus is real sweet. You'll like him. I think everyone sees him as the leader" he says with a small chuckle.
Darius looked at June confused, focusing on her so that he would not suddenly forget what was going on.
June folded up the paper and put it in her pocket without a word. She stood up and went back inside.
Gus watched her go, then let out a little sigh. At least Darius hadn't asked about the picture. June was probably going to hide it somewhere safe where only she could find it.
Part of Gus felt a little bad about keeping Darius in the dark like this—after all, Darius had been friends with June's brother too. But what good would it do to tell him? He'd only forget yet again, and he was clearly happier not knowing. Besides, it wasn't Gus's call, it was June's. He was resolved to respect her judgement.
"I bet she's jus' tired," he said to Darius, sitting back. "She'll be wantin' some alone time, I excpect. It sure has been a long day."
Darius blinked, “oh…ok…has it been a long day…what time is it?” He asked having no perception of time.
June went back to the area of the store place with the shelves that had random stuff and to her quiver, she dumped out her arrows and pulled the bottom piece out revealing a small compartment of that had papers, papers from Darius’ book. Ones of his family, his friends, and her brother. She stuck the picture in it, taking out the other papers, one had a sketch of Devon.
She looked at it, tears falling from her face, she avoided crying in front of others, she didn’t like to talk about her problems, nor for anyone to see her like this, especially not Darius. After all, he cared to much. It would only hurt if she had him ask. Sometimes she wished Darius would remember, then maybe she wouldn’t have to hold the burden of Devon’s memory on her shoulders alone. It would be so much better that way. She wiped the tears from her face, but they kept falling. The drops smearing the sketch.
(Bruh, that is like my longest reply yet)
(Lets just ignore the fact that the paper she had was a sketch…)
(It's well-written! I'm sad now TvT)
Gus thought about Darius's question. "What time is it?….Huh, I ain't too sure. Past noon, is all I know." He squinted up at the sky, which was partly overcast. "Might be late afternoon, by now. We'll have t' be careful not t' let th' dark sneak up on us out here. We should make sure this place is sealed up 'n secure before the sun's down."
(Me too T^T, I’m such a good writer (v-v) ^_^ self pride who?)
Darius nodded, “wait, what?” He asked having forgotten what he just asked.
(lol I feel that xD)
Gus grinned. "Nuthin'. Jus' sayin' we shouldn't hang out up here much longer. We gotta go 'n batten down th' hatches while we still have daylight t' do it. And we should also pick who's keepin' first watch tonight. Somebody's gonna have to unlock th' door fer Jez when he gets back."
Darius nodded, “Well to be honest, I don’t think me keeping watch would be a good idea…I mean…knowing me” he laughed a bit.
June was still crying as she put the papers back, after opening all the ones about Devon and reading them, the ones from when Darius had first met Devon were the worst, because in the beginning, Darius had had a bit of a crush on Dev. She read through them all and put them back, tears still falling down her face, she had never had a chance to mourn her brother, her only family for years, because she had Darius to worry about, but now, now that someone was willing to help with her friend, she could let out her emotions.
(I am going to cry bruh)

Shaking it away quickly, he looks back up to Evan. "Gus is real sweet. You'll like him. I think everyone sees him as the leader" he says with a small chuckle.
He was slightly worried about jez's throat, so he took out a water and handed it over to him "here."
He listened to what Jez was saying before nodding, "Well that's good to hear, he sounds really nice. So, shall we head on the way?"
(June deserves all the hugs)
Gus nodded. "Yeah," he admitted. "Prob'bly one of us should keep watch 'n let you rest. But we'll wake you if anything happens. Hopefully nuthin' does, 'cause I ain't taught you how t' actually use that knife of yours yet."
"I can…i can take first watch ..' she offered, wanting to be able to help for once.
(Yes someone go hug her)
Darius nodded, “Yeah,..I should probably practice with it”
June just sat there, trying to stop crying, but her grief was to much, to much to stop the flow of tears running down her face, to much to stop her heavy breathing. To much to control.
(Gus is on the way xD)
Gus blinked, surprised to hear Jasper speak. "Well now, y'sure you're up for it, kid? You oughta get some sleep too, I mean you were in a house fire 'n you met us 'n got in a fight—you gotta be dog tired." He paused, seeing something almost hopeful in her expression. "….But if you wanna take first watch, I guess I'd appreciate it. I'm real tired too."
"Tomorrow we can practice fightin' together," he promised Darius. "I'll teach you th' basics, anyhow. I think you'll learn quick."
“People have said that I am…I think…I mean I know how to play the drums” he said randomly.
She nodded, "I do, i do wanna..i want to help. You should get some rest…where should I eat h from…?" She almost spoke the last part to herself.
"I heard that you play drums," Gus confirmed cheerfully. "We'll have to play a tune together sometime too. If you can learn music, I reckon you can learn most anythin'."
To Jasper, he said, "You can sit near where th' rest of us are, inside. Y' only have t' worry if you hear somethin' outside or if y' think somethin's tryin' to break in, okay? And after an hour or two I'll trade with you." He stood up and started collecting the remains of their meal. "Let's all head downstairs now, 'n put this stuff away."
Jez takes the water with a grateful nod "thanks" he says as he unscrews the lid.
"Uh….I've got to get supplies. I told them I'd get some. I don't want to come back empty handed. If you want, I can point you in the direction of it though. I doubt you wanna go on a supply run." He says says a laugh, taking a sip of the water
Darius nodded, “I know mostly rock music, though none of the names just the music..but I can learn it I bet”
June kept trying to stop the tears, sitting on the ground holding herself as she broke down.
Evan smiled at Jez "Oh i don't mind at all, maybe i can be some help to you during it and we can get back quicker, I'm sure there worried about you." He moves to get up and dust himself off looking elsewhere.
Elodie sighed into the open air, her breaths long and shaky.
"I get what you think, you think by hurting me you saved me, but newsflash Jesse. You hurt me, we don't even know if that guy was dangerous." She said vastly, her mind a thousand miles away.
"Rock music's alright," Gus said agreeably to Darius as he descended the ladder. "I don't play it much but I get the gist of it. Careful on th' way down here, it's a little slippery and th' ground ain't gonna hug you gentle if y' fall."
she nodded, and made her way down the ladder carefully choosing a spot for watch.
Jesse sighs, turning around to face Elodie, her brows furrowed. Not in anger but in worry
"You had no idea either.. you can't take that chance….i couldn't take that chance" she says, her voice a bit softer. Which was obviously rare.
All she could think was "she doesn't get it" whether or not it was true.
how can I get her to understand?

Jez looks around the corner, coughing once more before turning back to Evan.
"Well if youre sure." He shrugs "you know any good places to stay? We're at this dollar store right now. It's definitely not the safest place to camp" he says with a soft chuckle
Darius nodded and followed Gus.
June was still crying, to lost in her sorrow to hear the others coming down from the roof.
