"No, but we have no supervisors for a couple hours. We might as well have some fun while we wait," Lailah said, pretending it wasn't Vivajenne asking. "And I'm not calling you Charlene. If it pisses you off, I'm calling you Vivajenne. Anyway, you guys should choose a character. I can't play by myself."
Carl was looking at the game and then at the screen. He wasn’t a big fan of video games as he is bad at them, but this definitely looked a lot more fun then staple removing. Scanning the characters, he found one that definitely suited him the most. “I call the map maker.” He says not knowing if anyone else wanted the character nor did he care.
Then some yelling came from behind the three. It was the rich girl again. “Can you please keep it down? We are trying to play a game here. Thanks.” He snaps still agitated by the fight that seemed to have ended. Carl didn’t even look at her as he didn’t feel the need to. What was the point of doing that bodily function when you can watch the game. It didn’t take long for the rich girl to join them and asked something about animals. “It’s set in the jungle. What do you think?” He says dryly.
Juno ignored all other noise and took a controller, reading the characters. "Dr. Braveheart?" She tried not to laugh. "You know what, sounds pretty badass… I guess," she shrugged, choosing the character.
Charlene scoffed again, at all of them. But at Carl's answer, she realized that maybe she wanted to give this game a look anyway. She didn't want to talk to any of them, but maybe she could take the game away from everyone else and play by herself, while the others moped around with their stupid, useless hobbies. She looked at he screen, seeing that all the others were already taken. Then she noticed one particularly interesting character.
'Brain Fry the Lion Guy? The animal guy? But he… no, I think it'll be fine.' She shoved Juno out of the way and selected her character.
"OK, what's the game like then?" Lailah asked, with every character selected. The game started to shake violently, a green light shining from it. "What's happening?" The controller dropped from her hands, but she didn't drop it. She lifted her arms up to find herself turning to dust, the dust going into the game console. In an instant, she was gone.
Juno yelped in shock. "That's not supposed to - that's not - " Juno, too, seemed to disintegrate. She held up her hands in shock and quickly closed her eyes before being pulled into the game console, as well.
'WHAT… WHAT THE FUCK….' She stood in shock at the sudden disappearances, and soon, she found herself in a flash of light. She too closed her eyes as tight as she could, as she felt herself being sucked into a tunnel-like place.
Carl rolled his eyes at the rich girl's response. Of course she was going to ignore them, because she is so high and mighty. And totally above them. He might as well bow down to her now or whatever. This is why he liked to keep to himself. Most people he has met put themselves on this nonexistent pedestal that they are above everyone. They usually are not and he definitely isn't above anyone. Maybe it was wrong to generalize an entire population but he stopped caring.
The controller was being held loosely in his hand when the first of the girls started disappearing. He instantly dropped his not wanting the same thing to happen to him. As he scrambled back, another girl got sucked in and then another. All the while Carl tried to make it to the door and out of the room. But it seemed to be too late. His arm had a weird sensation and looking down, he sees that he too was disintegrating. With his eyes wide in panic, there was nothing he could do but surrender to the invisable pull suking him into the game.
Falling. That's what was happening to Lailah. One minute she was standing on solid ground in the school's basement, and then next she was falling….through a jungle? Why was she in a jungle. She landed on the ground feet first, but the impact made her fall over onto her back. It felt like she was in a different body.
She closed her eyes, bringing a hand to her head to rub her forehead. When she opened her eyes, she saw a white arm doing this. "Aah!" She yelled, pulling the arm away. She looked down at her body. "Aah!" She stood up, looking around. She was short. "Aaaah!"
Juno fell. Out. Of. The. Sky. Not that she'd had a lot of experience with video games like this, but she didn't think they were supposed to drop you out of the sky. She landed in a jungle and almost immediately rolled all the way down a hill. "Wonderful, I'm dead," she groaned, then paused and quickly stood up. That wasn't her voice. She looked down and yelped. That wasn't her body. "I'm white." Oh, hell, no. Why - she didn't even mind being dropped out of the sky anymore, just why did she have to be white?
Carl soon felt like he was falling. Falling. He may not know much of the videogame experience but he was pretty sure it didn't involve falling into the game. He was screaming because what else was he going to do. He was falling from the sky. It didn't take long he hit the ground and lost his balanced. He grunted as he fell to his knees. "What is happening?!" He asked before his hands shot up to his mouth. That was not his voice and looking down these were not his hands. He was very pale and had no color in his skin usually, but now his hands were lightly tan. Standing up, he notice that everything seemed a bit shorter than usual. This definitely wasn't not his body.
Lailah felt that her hair was different, and began to pull at it. Red hair crossed her vision. She dropped it with a yell. "What the fuck is happening?" She whispered. Her voice was not her own. She said it louder. "Why am I Irish?!" She yelled.
"Stop screaming!" Screamed Juno, who then paused. "Wait, who's there?" She slowly and painfully climbed the hill she'd rolled down, trying to appreciate her surroundings as much as she could while actively panicking.
Carl looks up from his hands. He was officially panicking. All he ever wanted to do was skip precalculus and move on with his day. Not be stuck in the middle of a jungle with a body that clearly wasn't his. He paused, trying to clear his mind and level his breathing. Closing his eyes, he tried to listen to the sounds around him to help ground him but mostly all he could hear was someone screaming about being white. His eyes flew open when he realized it was a voice he didn't recognize. Looking around he say that a woman with red hair was panicking. "Hey hey hey. Calm down. Who are you?" He asks while putting his hands out. He takes one step forward not really knowing what he was going to do next.
"What do you mean, 'who am I'? I'm Lailah, but I'm not. I'm white, I'm short and I'm IRISH!" She suddenly realised that she didn't know who the other person was, the one that just asked. "Wait, who are you?"
Juno squinted, reaching the top of the hill. "You're short and white," she agreed faintly. "I'm Juno. But white. At least I'm taller now. I think." She immediately looked for the pros of the situation to ease her panic
Carl almost jump back at the intensity at her words. 'Well at least it is someone tolerable.' He thinks to himself as he puts a name to a face. Or at least who he thought Lailah was. He could always be wrong. At the question of who he is, he decided that maybe his face isn't the same either. Then again, why would it? "I'm Carl. I don't know if you know me but maybe you could calm down so we can figure out how to get out of here. Also find out who the other two are." Seeing as another person just identify themselves, Carl corrected himself. "Finding out who the other person is." Glancing to see a man who didn't seem to have even a faintest clue to show who they are nor were saying. "Oh gods, I hope it isn't the rich girl."
It took a bit longer for Charlene to fall, but when she finally fell into the hard, grassy ground, she found herself in horror. One look at her massive arms, and it was clear her body had changed. She needed no further convincing once she saw the other people. They all looked and sounded different, but by their stupid conversation and the way they all acted, it was clear who each one was.
'What the F–K happened to all of you?' she exclaimed, 'what happened to ME? Where the F–K are we?' She started to feel her hair, which she noticed was incredibly short, and found out that she also possessed a very rough stubble. Her face stood in shock, as she started to hyperventilate.
'Where the F–K are we? Someone better tell me, or you'll ALL suffer, okay?'
"Threats really aren't necessary, only incredibly rude. We're all panicking, and for you to act as though you're the only one who deserves attention is really not cool," Juno answered calmly, fighting down her panic, anyway. "Personally, I think we've somehow been sucked into the game Jumanji, because that's what it felt like to me. What's her name - er, Lailah looks like the avatar she chose before we left, so I'm assuming we now look like our avatars."
"Hold up…" Lailah said, more to herself. "White as fuck skin, some freckles, red hair, Irish accent…" She started to put the things together. She ran over and grabbed Juno, staring up at the now tall male. "What colour are my eyes? Tell me what colour they are." Please don't say green. Please don't say green.
Carl rolled his eyes in annoyance. Of course the rich girl was going to complain and make empty threats. He would be more surprised if she didn’t but that is the last thing they need right now. “My gods, does she ever stop talking?” He mutters under his breath not loud enough for any of the others to hear. After a tall male explains his… her theory, Carl couldn’t help but nod in agreement. “Yeah. By the flora and climate, this is a jungle so going by Occam’s razor we are in Jumanji.” Then the red head, Lailah as she said to be, started to freak out again. She grabbed Juno and started asking for her eye color. “Your eyes are now green just like the avatar. Is that a problem?” Carl answered even though the question wasn’t directed to him. Maybe this would calm her down or have the total opposite effect.
Charlene calmed down a bit, understanding now that she was the avatar she picked, which was alright because she did really like this character, but the only problem was the possibility that they were obese, and therefore, unfit to properly look after animals or help them out. What did 'Animal Guy' imply if this guy didn't look after animals? But she shook those thoughts off, and glared at everyone else, especially Laliah.
'Yeah, the wallflower pansy is right, they're green. What the hell's wrong with green eyes, I've got green eyes, are you trying to DISS ME?' But this was against her favour though, for now her character had dark, brown eyes similar to a dogs.
'Maybe I'll forgive all you nerds if you explain how the hell this could've happened, this is a game for god's sake.'
Two people answered with green, which made Lailah sink to the floor. "Nooo! I'm a stereotypical Irish person!" She yelled, upset. Then it wore off, and she stood up. "And no, I'm not trying to diss you. I don't give a flying fuck what colour your eyes are. They're brown, by the way. And why are you angry at us? We don't know what happened. We don't know why we're here."
Carl rolled his eyes at the rich girl’s comment before shooting her a pointed looks. “Really? Wallflower pansy? That’s all you got?” He questioned not really wanting an answer. He swears if something doesn’t kill her, he just might. Her overall attitude just rubs him the wrong way. Looking back at Lailah, he watches as she sinks to the ground into a puddle of sadness or whatever. He didn’t really understand why being Irish upsets her so much nor cared, he just hoped she got over it quickly. Which luckily she did and had enough anger to chew out the rich girl. “She has a point. None of us understands what’s happening. And throwing preschool insults around doesn’t help the fact we are stuck in the middle of the jungle. So can you get it together for a few hours or is that too much to ask from you Your Highness?”
(XD. Maybe. Sorry, my character just really hates people like her.)
