Aliana gave him a nod and bit her lip in waiting.

Hatta spoke slowly. "The more you take, the more you leave behind. What am I?"
Aliana thought for a moment about the riddle. She stewed for a moment before saying, "Time?"
"Footsteps." he replied with a grin.
"Oh," Aliana said with wide eyes, "That makes more sense. Tell, tell me another."
Hatta smiled. "Can you name three consecutive days without using the words Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday?"
Aliana thought for a moment before snapping her fingers seeming to brighten up slightly, "The weekend! Right?"
"Nope. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow." he laughed a little.
Aliana groaned slightly, but she was smiling, "Darn it. I was close though, kind of."
He chuckled. "Mm. Sort of."
"The weekend is three days, right?" Aliana sugested before shrugging, "Can I get another riddle?"
He shrugged. "It…isn't, though." He replied. "the weekend is two days."
"Friday," Aliana responded to him, "It can be counted sometimes."
He frowned a little. "Mm…maybe."
"Yeah, can you tell me another?" Aliana asked him with big eyes.
"A doctor and a bus driver are both in love with the same woman, an attractive girl named Sarah. The bus driver had to go on a long bus trip that would last a week. Before he left, he gave Sarah seven apples. Why?"
"Because it would keep the doctor away," Aliana was proud of herself for knowing the answer to that one so quickly.
He smiled, and nodded. "Yeah, exactly."
Aliana grinned at him, "I'm glad I got that."
He smiled again. "Mmh."
Aliana yawned a little and leaned against him. She pushed herself back upright not wanting to go to sleep while Hatta was still awake.
Hatta yawned as well, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.
Aliana was a little surprised at the gesture but leaned into him gladly. Her eyes closed as she yawned once more.
Hatta held her close.
Aliana nuzzled against him and she felt herself slipping into the darkness of sleep.
