William looked at the crew gathered, then at Lucas, “Good job. Now the spirits might consider helping us,” William looked into the eyes of each of the other crew memebers, frowning at the ones who hadn’t come the first time he called, “Shall we begin?”
She shrugged him off “Ger’off”
Harley put his head back onto Aleena’s shoulder, “Nope!”
“Ok seriously stop!” She said and walked away
Bahari hurried over to where a small crowd was gathering around William. Most looked skeptical, except Lucas, who appeared terrified. Her grandma had been a good witchdoctor, so she believed in the spirits, but she wasn't fully convinced of William's ability.
William didn’t look at the tarrot cards while he shuffled them. He closed his eyes and opened himself to the spirit world, becoming the small connection between their world and his. The necklace enhanced it a lot, enough to it was clear. Enough so he could try and speak with them…
“We are here. We need you help,” William whispered under his breath. The spirits pounded thoughts at his mind, so he added with a tight smile, “Speaking would be appreciated.”
The spirits obliged, and their voice became like a soft breeze around, speaking in languages human eyes couldn’t comprehend or learn. So William took a tarrot card and flipped it over. It was the Tower, reversed. William smiled as he glanced down at it, “Disaster avoided. Thank you,” He whispered, then dropped another card, it was upright Strength, “Thank you,” He whispered again, then dropped the last card, two of swords, “Difficult choices? Okay. Thank you my spirits for you time,” And like the flip of a switch, the hum in the air disappeared, the voices gone, and the necklaces gained a faint glow to them. William collapsed were he was, panting heavily and sweat beading down his face.
Ailith rushed over. “William!” She exclaimed, grabbing his wrist to check his pulse. She knew he wasn’t dead, though his pulse was still weaker than it should be. “Was this supposed to happen?!”
Bahari rushed over to William, kneeling over him. "The spirits have tired him. They are real. Necklace is only thing keeping alive." She glanced to Lucas. "Get the box with arrow!"
Ailith stared at her before back at William. “If the spirits are supposed to be helping us why would they nearly kill him?”
“I… Being… connection… hard…” William got out. The world was spinning around him, and he couldn’t even see who was talking to him.
“William, I swear to god if you pass out I’ll kill you.” She muttered, looking over him. “He needs water.”
"He has lots. He needs arrow!" Bahari insisted, gazing with intensity at the young boy.
“What’s some arrow going to do?” Ailith snapped.
"It is good. Now go get it!" Bahari urges.
“I don’t know where it is!” Ailith exclaimed. “I know medical stuff, not how to deal with exhaustion by spirits.” She muttered the last part to herself more than anyone else.
"I told Lucas to get it!" Bahari is yelling now.
Simone heard an angry Bahari, a worried Ailith, and a frozen Lucas. She ran to go retrieve the box and brought it near William. She opened it but didn't know what to do from there.
"Thank you, Simone." Bahari opened the box and pulled out an old arrowhead lined with yellow streaks. She prodded William with it in his forehead, letting a bead of blood form. She tucked the arrow back into the box and stepped away.
"Everybody back. He will be strange when he is awake." She explained.
(Did you mean William instead of Lucas?)
(yes sorry)
(done)
Ailith looked up. "What do you mean by "strange"?" She asked looking back down at William. "What did that thing do?"
"You…will see. It alerted middle eye his…excuse, his middle eye. It was cloudy." She explains. "Stay back."
William slowly lifted his head, looking at the crew before him. He felt… different. He blinked his eyes slowly. He felt… gone. Like half of him was present, while the other half was in the spirit world. He had known contacting the spirits like that had been a risk, but… William’s hand moved without command, grabbing one more tarrot card. He didn’t reveal it to the others though, this was only meant for his eyes. He swallowed when he sent the card back into the deck, and stood. His body swayed for a second, before he stumbled over to the side of the boat and heaved up his guts. William felt like his own body was foreign to him.
