Darkshadow cautiously stepped forward. "I did not steal any prey from your territory. I simply came to see Lilypaw. I will not come here again." He dipped his head respectfully.
"But-" Lilypaw protested.
Darkshadow cautiously stepped forward. "I did not steal any prey from your territory. I simply came to see Lilypaw. I will not come here again." He dipped his head respectfully.

Duckwing nodded. "Quiet, Lilypaw. You know the rules as well as anyone, considering your father is the leader. You can see him at the gathering. If you deliberately break the rules again, I'll be forced to tell Eaglestar."
"But.." she broke off. "Yes, Duckwing," she mewed, lowering her head.
Duckwing rubbed against her to reassure her. "I don't mean to spoil all the fun, but you could get in big trouble if someone other than me caught you." He leaned down close to Lilypaw. "Just between you and me, we technically share the rock clearing with the other clans, as it's in the center of the territories."
Coppershine couldn’t hide her disgust for Lilypaw and Darkshadow’s deception. “Give me one reason why I shouldn’t tell Eaglestar right now!” she hissed. “You broke the Code! A SunClan warrior has responsibilities, and I don’t think any cat who does this has the right to be one.”
Lilypaw looked at the ground, trying her hardest not to cry. "I'm sorry," she mewed quietly. "Please, don't tell Eaglestar. I swear, I'll do anything! I'll clean out all the kits nests and take care of the elders for a moon! I swear." She paused. "I just want to be a warrior."
Coppershine’s expression softened just a bit. “I’m sorry, but it’s my duty as a warrior. I can’t just ignore this. Darkshadow, if you leave right now and don’t come back, I won’t tell Eaglestar it was you.”
Darkshadow dipped his head respectfully, gave Lilypaw a warm look, and swam back across the river.
Lilypaw's heart sank, and she looked back at Darkshadow, and ran off toward camp, leaving Coppershine and Duckwing behind her.
Coppershine turned to Duckwing. “We have to tell Eaglestar, right? This is a big deal.” She was clearly angry, but now she was a little unsure.
"I…" Duckwing watched Lilypaw run off, conflicted. "I don't think she meant any harm. She just met a friend at a gathering and wanted to see him again…" He thought for a moment. "Maybe, as long as it doesn't happen again, of course… maybe we could just keep quiet this time? Again, if she does it again we'll have to bring it up, but, you know…"
“But we can’t lie to Eaglestar! And also, did you see the two of them when we found them? If they’re just friends, so are we. This is seriously, Duckwing. Lilypaw could get hurt,” Coppershine ranted, pacing back and forth.
Duckwing felt his face heat up at Coppershine's comparison, though it luckily wasn't noticeable though his fur. "I don't think Darkshadow has bad intentions either, as little as I trust him. He's a brand new warrior and Lilypaw is still very young. There's no saying whether she's even considering anything remotely romantic with him."
Lilypaw entered camp and headed straight for the apprentices den. Raintuft tried to approach her but she stormed right past him and plopped into her best, tucking her muzzle beneath her paw.

“I’m just saying, where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and this has the potential to turn into a very bad fire.” She turned to Duckwing. “Look. The two of them are probably going to keep seeing each other, and would you rather have Eaglestar stumble in on a kissy-kissy session in the woods? We’re doing the least amount of damage if we tell our leader like we’re supposed to.”
"I suppose so… I just don't want anyone to get hurt because she wants to see a friend." Duckwing sighed, looking away. "All this border stuff is just problematic and irritating sometimes…"
Coppershine swatted her tail back and forth. “I understand, I really do, but we gotta follow the Code! This way, it’s fair for everyone! Nobody can just break the rules whenever they want, otherwise there’d be be chaos!” she pleaded. This was obviously a sore spot for her. “Please.”
Duckwing nodded, his own tail flicking as well. "She's going to be quite upset…" He murmured as he began walking back to camp, taking his rabbit with him.
“I know,” she replied quietly. “But I think it’s the right thing to do. For her and Darkshadow.” Coppershine picked up her vole and padded after him.
He nodded again, walking into camp once they got there. He didn't see Lilypaw around, so he figured she must be hiding in the apprentices' den.
Coppershine began to walk towards the leader’s den after dropping off her prey. She looked back at Duckwing. “Should we talk to Lilypaw first?” she asked.
"Probably." Duckwing dropped off his prey as well. "Maybe we can encourage her to tell him herself?"
“Good idea,” Coppershine replied. “I was kinda mean to her too, and I want to apologize,” she muttered, ashamed.
"It's alright… you were only trying to do what's right." Duckwing nuzzled against Coppershine before leading her to the apprentices' den.
“Thanks, Duckwing,” Coppershine replied, giving him a lick on the cheek in return. “Lilypaw?” she called gently as they entered the apprentice’s den. “Can we talk?”
