Dear Mother, Donatella, and Marin,
If you’re reading this, I’m dead by now. I don’t know when I vanished, or how long you’ve been missing me. I have no concept of time anymore. We’re trapped in a house without any windows or escapes, and we’re being forced to play some sick man’s game, in which we vote to kill each other. I escaped round one of voting alright, but I plan to help a young girl and a man with a family escape, even if it means that they’ll eventually have to vote for me, too. I know it’s probably what’s right. My life is worth nothing next to the lives of people who have others depending on them or a child who is far too young to die.
I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to come back, and I’m sorry that you have to live with the pain of losing your child/brother only a mere few years after we lost Father. I don’t have much to ask besides my request that you help the survivors find who did this to us and make sure they get what they deserve.
Love, Xander

(I know it's short and simple, but it gets across what I think it needs to)

Enzo watched Xander breath his last. Then he stood, staring down at his blood stained hands. His face and arm stung. He headed towards the living room, wondering what the next instructions would be. He found River with a slip of paper in her hands, but he didn't bother her.

"Don't forget that he killed a child, River," Enzo said in a subdued voice, collapsing tiredly into a chair. Blood still streamed down his face and arm, and his hands were coated in blood, and splatters of blood covered his clothing and hair. "He deserved even worse than what I did to him."

“Since you’ve killed before, do you think you can kill me too?” She asked, looking down “I know my parents will miss me, a-and my brother won’t know his older sister, but I don’t want to be alone here.” She croaked

Enzo closed his eyes tiredly. Images of Xander's body flashed through his mind, so he quickly opened his eyes again. "No. I won't do that. You're going to get home to your family. Don't say things like that."

@WriteOutofTime

"You won't be alone," he reassured. "This…this game, or whatever it is, is over. We can't vote anymore. It's just the two of us. They're gonna let us go any minute now."

(I’m sorry loves I started school two days ago)
A wall in the room River and Enzo were standing in suddenly became see through. It was in breakable glass. The man and woman were standing together on either side.
“Hello dear friends. I knew you could do it. It was so sad how everyone died but now? We have a special surprise for our two best players. Now we know you’ll both vote yourselves to die, we watched it. We know you now.” The woman began. The man smiled down at her and looked up at the other pair and began to speak. “Sweet River. You my dear are a piece of art unto yourself. And you Enzo, your not what we expected. But always expect the unexpected. And I have an extra special surprise for you.” He said snapping his fingers. Enzo doubled over in pain and then collapsed on the floor. He was dying and he knew it. (You can write this a tab bit better if you want) “Now Enzo, that nephew you mentioned? He’s here, come here sweetheart.” The woman said, and Enzo’s young nephew walked through a door they handing realized was there. “He’s going to be okay. We couldn’t let him suffer with out a family. River, were sending him with you. We know he’ll be properly cared for and Enzo can die knowing his dear sweet little nephew will be taken care of. Of course this is because he took care of little Lixi and survived to the last two. Not because he brutally murdered our dear friend Xander.” The man continued the woman’s ‘speech’.

"T…tio?"

Enzo blinked, struggling to stay conscious as he was dragged to his knees. It was an odd feeling, to die. It was cold. Frost seemed to inch up his veins and time seemed to slow down. Moments of his life flashed before his mind's eye. His sister's wedding. His sister's arrest. His mother's death. Javi's birth. Javi's third birthday. Javi… His eye managed to focus on Javi's face. No… he shouldn't be here. No! "G-get him out of here," he managed to sputter, his eyes on River, begging. He couldn't let Javi see him die…no.

Javi crouched by Enzo, his eyes wide and gray. His tousled brown curls fell into his face as he gazed down at his uncle. "Tio, what's happening, happening? I'm scared. What are you d-doing?"

"Te amo, mijo," he rasped, trying to fight the panic that was beginning to consume him. He shouted again, "River, p-please, I'm begging you –and protect him…get him out –out of here, please, please-" He coughed, his lungs suddenly constricting. River wasn't moving. Did she even hear him?

Javi's eyes were starting to glisten. "Is this, is this, is this, death?" he questioned suddenly, his voice cracking. His stutter was getting worse, like it always did when he got upset. "Don't l-l-leave me, Tio! Mama left, left, left, and P-papa, and now you? P-please don't go, please please don't go!"

Enzo's tried to lift his head, but he felt paralyzed. It hit him suddenly that he'd failed at everything. He'd broken all of his promises. He couldn't protect Lixi, and he couldn't keep his promise to his sister. He couldn't protect Javi.

"Please, River," he said again, his voice thick and his eye distant, "please protect my…" And then he fell silent.

The very last words he heard were filled with betrayal. They were: "You're leaving m-me too?"

And his very last thought was, IfailedIfailedIfailedIfailed.

“Javi, sweetie, he’s not leaving persay” the woman said, still behind the glass.
“No. Not leaving. He couldn’t help this. River you’ll be getting whatever you need to help care for the boy. We’ll spoil him senseless. After all this is more or less adoption, and he’d technically be our new grandson after all”
In that moment River realized that they looked to be in their late 30s early 40s.
